When I first pulled up to this four-star property, I wasn’t expecting much from the residential neighborhood — but you know what, sometimes the best finds are tucked away from all the tourist chaos. The building itself has this clean, modern look that feels refreshingly unpretentious compared to some of the flashier places in central Amsterdam.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Osdorp — you’re actually in a real Amsterdam neighborhood where locals live and work. The tram connections are solid (line 1 gets you downtown in about 20 minutes), and there’s something nice about coming back to an area that doesn’t smell like waffles and tourist sweat. I mean, I love stroopwafels as much as anyone, but sometimes you need a breather. Plus, parking here is infinitely easier than anywhere near the canals.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was genuinely well thought out — not huge, but every inch felt purposeful. The bed was properly comfortable (none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works. What impressed me most was the attention to soundproofing; despite being near a main road, I barely heard any traffic noise at night.

The on-site restaurant serves decent international cuisine, though I’d honestly recommend exploring the local Indonesian places nearby — Osdorp has some hidden gems that most visitors never discover. The hotel’s breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, and the staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right. There’s also a small fitness area that’s nothing fancy but gets the job done if you need to work off all that Dutch cheese.

One of a kind stay! This property is absolutely breath taking, from the canal side balcony to the surrounding neighbourhood. We spent our mornings relaxing on our balcony surrounded by ducks and passing boats.
Johan and Tiba are amazing hosts and provided us with top tier service! Breakfast was delivered to our room every morning, including pastries, spreads, fruits, meats and eggs. Fresh towels and bedding were provided when needed and Johan was around 24/7 for all of our needs.
The location of this property is great. With transport to Amsterdam centre being around 30 minutes, this includes the 195 bus and the 17 or 2 tram. Both bus and tram were always on time, quiet and easy to navigate. I have been to Amsterdam many times and this location has to be my favourite, nice and quiet away from the crowds and noise of the centre!
Would 100% stay again! Thank you Johan and Tiba.

An oasis of tranquility close to the heart of Amsterdam The houseboat and surroundings are the definition of peaceful, slow living, but with all the modern amenities. If there was a god of breakfasts, this would be Johann, an incredibly kind host, who will make you feel special and welcomed, together with his friendly dog. His picnic baskets are out of this world delicious. Beauty is in the details and you'll see that for yourself at Morpheus. The canal is lively with birds and boats, plus the most amazing sunsets. Getting to Amsterdam for sightseeing is easy via bus and metro. Would love to come back again some day. Thank you, Johann for the hospitality and stories.

Peaceful canal-side location with comfortable beds and a great breakfast The apartment has a private terrace directly on the canal, which is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast. The host lives in his own apartment next door and brings a fantastic breakfast every morning - a true breakfast buffet in a basket! He's very welcoming and always willing to provide clean glasses, plates etc. if you want to eat other meals (there's a fridge and a microwave, but no kitchen equipment at all, so it's only suitable for ready-made supermarket food). The bed was extremely comfortable (nice and soft) and the location is quiet, so we always slept well.
What could be improved: It takes about an hour to get into Amsterdam city center. However, the journey is easy: a very peaceful 20-minute walk to the tram stop, and the trams are frequent.
Perfection. Amazing. The host is everything you want, the breakfast was amazing, the facilities were perfect, the view was stunning. We will be back.

Everything was done in a relaxed atmosphere and the accommodation exceeded our expectations many times over.
Travel from the centre by simple tram no 2 approx 13 minutes walk from the accommodation through beautiful surroundings.

Authentic and inspiring The breakfast was fantastic and plenty! Being in the canal was a delight! Johan was a delight and Tiba! Good energy all around for me! The old tub didn’t disappoint!
