First Impressions
Walking up to Milkhouse Luxury Stay Amsterdam on Keizersgracht, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking — and that’s exactly the point. This four-star boutique property sits quietly among the classic canal houses, but step inside and you’ll immediately understand why it scores a 9.7 rating. The entrance feels more like walking into a stylish friend’s home than a hotel, with original 17th-century details mixed seamlessly with contemporary design.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re right in the heart of Amsterdam‘s canal ring here, which means you can walk to pretty much everything that matters. The Rijksmuseum is maybe ten minutes away, and you’ll find yourself strolling past the famous Bloemenmarkt flower market just because it’s on your route to dinner. What I really appreciate is how this stretch of Keizersgracht feels residential — you’ll see locals cycling to work in the morning, not just tourists taking selfies.
The Room Experience
Each room here is actually an apartment-style setup, which makes a huge difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. The kitchen isn’t just for show either — it’s fully equipped, and there’s a fantastic organic market on Noordermarkt twice a week where you can grab fresh ingredients. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking sink-into-it-and-sleep-like-a-baby comfortable), and the bathrooms feel almost spa-like with their rainfall showers and heated floors.
Dining & Amenities
While there isn’t a traditional hotel restaurant, the staff will point you toward some incredible local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this tiny Indonesian place around the corner that’s been family-run for decades — honestly, some of the best rendang I’ve had outside of Jakarta. The hotel does offer a continental breakfast service, and they’ll actually deliver it to your room at whatever time works for you, which feels wonderfully civilized.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Milkhouse apart is how it manages to feel both boutique and homey at the same time. The building dates back centuries, so you get those gorgeous high ceilings and original wooden beams, but everything else has been thoughtfully updated. The staff knows your name after one night, and they’re genuinely helpful — not just going through the motions. There’s no parking on-site (it’s central Amsterdam, after all), but they’ll sort out arrangements at a nearby garage if you’re driving. Really though, you won’t need a car here — everything unfolds best on foot or by bike anyway.
Hotels in Amsterdam line historic canals, museum quarters, and buzzing neighborhoods filled with cozy cafés.

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was above our expectation
Could not have had a better experience in Amsterdam with assistance from Elaine & Erik
Perfect stay! Clean and very well decorated. The bed was amazingly comfortable.
What could be improved: Nothing.
I loved it and will definitely come again Lovely location, great host, very clean, great amenities
What could be improved: It was very hot in the apartment even though we had a fan. As a basement apartment there was no view.
Perfect in every way! It was the perfect location & we loved how we were right on the canal as we walked out our door. All the lovely extras of drinks & snacks was such a treat. Would definitely come back here again.
A well situated, well equipped cozy haven that was especially welcome after a day of travel or sightseeing. Great location, central but quiet. Comfortable and well equipped. Eline was responsive to messages and very helpful with suggestions and advice.
Exceptional Absolutely incredible place. So clean, smelled wonderful, incredibly comfortable. I’d give the place a 10/5 if it were an option! Host was extremely lovely as well!!
What could be improved: Not a thing!
Very easy checkin, beautiful and comfortable room and great location on the canal. Great location, personal service, very nice and modern room and bathroom room, great location.
What could be improved: It seemed very close to the street it no noise issues at all.
So comfortable, excellent location-I would come back! Everything was very enjoyable. The bedding was so comfortable. The room had fresh flowers, nice selection of snacks and beverages and updated. The location was fantastic. The host was so helpful and accommodating upon arrival! I’ve already recommended to friends that will be visiting Amsterdam.
What could be improved: Everything was great. If I had to come up with something to add….maybe a little shelf in the bathroom for toiletries??
It was a very nice room, in a great neighborhood, perfectly located near many attractions. The room has a private entrance right on the canal. The king size bed was very comfortable, and the room had a small refrigerator for snacks and beverages. The owners were very welcoming and shared some suggestions about what to do while we were there. They even shared some art books with us.
What could be improved: There wasn’t much storage space for clothes other than the hanging rack.
