First Impressions
I’ll be honest — when I first heard about Luxury studio on Robs houseboat special for couples, I thought it might be one of those quirky places that sounds better in photos than reality. But stepping aboard this floating gem in Amsterdam completely changed my perspective. The gentle rocking motion of the water beneath your feet immediately signals you’re in for something different from your typical hotel stay.
The Floating Experience
This four-star houseboat sits right on Zeeburgerpad, which means you’re technically in Amsterdam City Centre but with none of the usual tourist chaos. What struck me most was how Rob has managed to create this intimate space that feels both cozy and sophisticated. The studio layout is actually quite clever — every inch serves a purpose, and the large windows frame the canal views perfectly. You know what’s really nice? The gentle sounds of water lapping against the hull become this natural white noise that helps you sleep better than any fancy sound machine.
Location & Neighborhood Perks
The Zeeburgereiland area is still relatively undiscovered by most tourists, which honestly works in your favor. You’re close enough to cycle into the historic center in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you can actually enjoy some peace. I loved walking along the waterfront in the mornings — there’s this authentic Amsterdam vibe here that the more central areas have sort of lost. Plus, having a proper
The Romantic Details
Rob clearly designed this space with couples in mind, and it shows in the thoughtful touches. The room has this warm, maritime-inspired decor that manages to feel romantic without being overly themed. The compact kitchenette is perfect for preparing simple meals together — I mean, there’s something special about cooking breakfast while watching canal boats drift by your window. The shower has surprisingly good water pressure for a houseboat, and the bed is positioned to catch those morning canal views.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.6 rating isn’t just impressive numbers — it reflects how this place delivers something genuinely unique. You’re not just staying in Amsterdam; you’re living on the water like a local. Rob is the kind of host who gives you space but remains available when you need recommendations (his suggestions for lesser-known brown cafés are spot-on). The combination of privacy, authenticity, and that gentle floating sensation creates this almost meditative experience that standard hotels simply can’t match. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourselves lingering over coffee just to soak up a few more minutes of canal life.
Amsterdam hotels keep travelers close to cycling routes, floating flower markets, and tram lines to hidden gems.

What Our Guests Say
A very enjoyable sat. The houseboat experience. The coots and swans going by in front of the boats. The snacks and treats the hosts provided. Their high level of service.
Exceptional Great location, wonderful accomodation, Rob was really helpful. Would certainly recommend
What could be improved: Nothing
Superb Rob was a great host, and we had very easy communication. He had gone to the trouble of providing a great number of extra treats that were very welcomed, especially the bottle of wine and nibbles. The houseboat was very comfortable and a great place to relax, central to tram stops. Would highly recommend.
Lovely stay Was very nice from start to finish. First time in a Houseboat and it's left a great impression. Host Paul was lovely, met us at the accommodation before our check in time, even stocked out the accommodations with snacks and refreshments. Was lovely to sit on the decking in the evenings, and dangle the feet in the cold water after long days of 25k+ steps, we badly needed it. The ducks and birds in the water were great company and entertainment. Only about 20min walk from the middle of the city. Trams nearby were only a few minutes walk away aswell. Lovely quiet street and road aswell so very manageable and accessible.
What could be improved: Nothing that I really didn't like. Only slight issue was a rooftop across the water, they had a party and loud music on for the evening and up to midnight. Managed to sleep eventually. But that's something this accommodation has no control over. So nothing else really was a negative.
Superb Lot's of snacks, thanks a lot! Very special location...

Amsterdam adventures in an unusual and lovely accommodation. Well designed and fitted out nicely. Had everything that we needed for our weekend break. Comfortable with plenty of space and outdoor decking area to sit by the canal. Plenty of thoughtful and useful touches.
Wonderfully relaxing would recommend we would definitely return! Lovely quiet clean boat with all amenities, was wonderful to be able to wash clothing the deck for morning coffee and evening wine was a gift - neighborhood walkable to some great places for good food and cheer Paul (host) was attentive and so helpful as this was our first visit to Amsterdam - he even picked us up from the train station!
Absolutely perfect!!! We loved everything about this wonderful houseboat! The hosts were fantastic and very welcoming, the boat itself was lovely and clean and such a homely place to stay. The bed was extremely comfortable along with the sofa! The hosts welcome you with some lovely little snacks and drinks (just what you need after the travel). Shower was lovely and hot and very powerful, all amenities are provided such as hairdryer, iron, ironing board etc. Honestly one of the best city breaks I have ever had and that was a lot to do with the property we stayed in! Amsterdam itself was just as amazing, so many sights to see and things to do, would recommend 100%!!
What could be improved: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about this property! It is a little bit outside of the city centre but this was perfect for us because it feels like you get away from the busyness of the centre to a tranquil little haven! The centre is only ten mins away on the tram and it is so easy to get to that it really didn’t matter to us!
Exceptional Paul went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and also gave us a very good list of places to go. Complementary drinks and snacks were also present on arrival which was a nice suprise. I would highly recommend this accommodation if you are visiting Amsterdam.
What could be improved: The fact we had to leave.
A special experience of Amsterdam Super host, responsive and accommodating! His recommendation on dining is great. The property is tastefully decorated and clean. Appreciate their supplies of snacks and drinks. Particularly happy to get close to the ducks and birds!
What could be improved: The entrance area is not as clean as inside.
