First Impressions
Walking up to Luxury Prinsengracht Canal House Jordan Area honestly feels like discovering Amsterdam’s best-kept secret. This four-star gem sits right on one of the city’s most picturesque canals, and I mean — the location couldn’t be more perfect. The building itself has that classic 17th-century canal house charm, but you can tell it’s been thoughtfully updated without losing any of its historic soul.
The Jordan Neighborhood
You know what’s great about staying in the Jordan? It’s where actual Amsterdammers hang out. Sure, you’re still in Amsterdam City Centre, but this area has a completely different vibe from the touristy spots around Dam Square. I’d walk out in the morning and find cozy brown cafés (that’s what locals call traditional pubs) on nearly every corner. The Saturday farmers market at Noordermarkt is just a five-minute stroll away, and honestly, picking up fresh stroopwafels there became my daily ritual.
The Space
My room overlooked the Prinsengracht canal, and watching the houseboats bob gently while I had my morning coffee was pretty magical. The space felt authentically Dutch — not overly large, but cleverly designed with beautiful wooden beams and tall windows that flood everything with light. What impressed me most was how they managed to fit a proper kitchenette without making the place feel cramped. Perfect for those nights when you want to grab ingredients from the local Albert Heijn and just cook something simple.
Getting Around
The tram connections from this area are actually fantastic — Line 13 and 17 stop practically at your doorstep. But honestly, I barely used public transport because everything worth seeing felt walkable. The Anne Frank House is literally around the corner (book ahead, seriously), and the Rijksmuseum is maybe a 15-minute walk through Vondelpark. There’s parking available if you’re driving, though I’d really recommend against bringing a car to Amsterdam — the bike culture here is no joke, and the streets weren’t exactly designed for modern vehicles.
Why Guests Love It
This place gets a 9.5 rating for good reason. The staff actually knows the neighborhood inside and out — they pointed me toward this incredible little restaurant called Café de Reiger that I never would’ve found otherwise. What really sets it apart though is how it manages to feel both central and peaceful. You’re steps away from the action when you want it, but the canal-side location means you can escape the crowds whenever you need to breathe. It’s that rare Amsterdam spot that gives you the authentic canal house experience without feeling like a tourist trap.
To book a hotel in Amsterdam during King’s Day, visitors plan ahead to balance orange-clad street parties with quiet Jordaan strolls.
