First Impressions
Walking up to Linden Hotel on Lindengracht, you immediately notice it’s not your typical chain hotel. The building has this understated Dutch charm that fits perfectly into the neighborhood — honestly, I almost walked past it because it blends in so naturally with the surrounding canal houses. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic.
The Neighborhood Feel
What I love about this spot is that you’re staying in a real Amsterdam neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. Lindengracht itself is this lovely tree-lined street where actual locals live and shop. There’s a Saturday market right outside that’s been running for decades — I mean, where else can you grab fresh stroopwafels for breakfast without fighting through crowds of tourists? The Jordaan district surrounds you here, and it’s absolutely perfect for those evening walks when you want to feel like you’ve discovered the “real” city.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — very Dutch in that efficient way. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in European boutique hotels), and the bathroom, while small, had everything I needed. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing is really good considering you’re on a busy street. I slept through the market setup Saturday morning, which says something about both the windows and how tired Amsterdam walking makes you.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in this cozy ground-floor space that doubles as the lobby restaurant. It’s nothing fancy — continental style with good coffee and fresh bread — but the staff actually remembers how you like your coffee after a couple days. There’s no parking on-site, which is pretty standard for this area, but honestly, you don’t need a car in this part of Amsterdam anyway. The trams are right there, and half the charm is walking these narrow streets.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Linden Hotel — it gets the basics right without trying too hard to impress. The location puts you within walking distance of the Anne Frank House and the main canal ring, but you’re staying somewhere that feels residential rather than commercial. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you realize it’s not about fancy amenities; it’s about that sweet spot between comfort, location, and authenticity that’s surprisingly hard to find in Amsterdam these days.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Cosy and clean hotel in a great neighbourhood. The stuff was really helpful and welcoming and I enjoyed my stay here!
The room was not big but it’s a good deal for a solo traveler
Great place to stay in Amsterdam Quaint. End of street by canal
Exceptional Clean, quiet place. They’ve got area for free coffee and tea. We’ve received a small gift from hotel after our stay.
Linden offered so many extras and became our most memorable stay It is a beautiful facility, and the staff was so warm and friendly
What could be improved: We had to put towels down on the floor to keep the water from seeping out of the room
A fantastic little hotel in a great location The staff were amazing, so friendly and some great little touches like free tea/coffee and sweets.
What could be improved: The rooms are small. This was not a problem for us at all but just something to be aware of
Hotel that i would stay again Staff was friendly, location convenient, and safe. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, and sights.
The location is within a nice residential area, minutes away from a great Saturday open air market Location is great. If you are looking for a small quaint hotel that is in the section of Amsterdam within walking distance of the famous 9 streets, great cafes and restaurants, on a canal and only a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Central Train station and center of Amsterdam book here. You will not be disappointed.
What could be improved: There was nothing we did not like.
Exceptional Love love the location and the feel of the hotel was very welcoming! Staff were very nice, especially Elise. She really went above and beyond to connect! Nothing
Excellent hotel The staff were very helpful. The location is excellent, being close to the center while still away from the bustling streets.
Superb The hotel was in a quiet and lovely neighborhood! Staff were kind and really helpful. They upgraded our room which was a pleasant surprise! The shower was quite small, but worked well. Great experience. If stairs are difficult, this would not be the place to stay. Highly recommend!
