First Impressions
Walking up to Leonardo Boutique Museumhotel on P.C. Hooftstraat feels like stumbling onto Amsterdam’s most expensive shopping street — because, well, you have. This four-star boutique hotel sits right in the heart of the Museum Quarter, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm, though it’s been given a contemporary makeover that works surprisingly well.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re literally steps from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, which sounds touristy until you realize how convenient it actually is. I mean, you can grab coffee and be looking at Starry Night within ten minutes. The Vondelpark entrance is practically around the corner — perfect for morning runs or just escaping the museum crowds. What I really appreciate is that despite being in Amsterdam’s cultural center, the street has this upscale residential feel that keeps things relatively quiet at night.
The Room Experience
The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed — this is Amsterdam, so don’t expect sprawling suites. What you get instead is smart use of space with clean lines and decent storage. Each room has that boutique hotel aesthetic without being too precious about it. The bathrooms are modern, though they stick to that European “efficient” size philosophy. The windows are well-insulated, which matters more than you’d think when you’re this close to a busy shopping district.
Amenities & Dining
The hotel restaurant serves solid international fare, though I’d honestly recommend exploring the neighborhood instead — there are some fantastic local spots within walking distance. The staff genuinely knows the area and can point you toward places that aren’t just tourist traps. There’s a small fitness area if you need to work off all that Dutch cheese, and the lobby spaces are comfortable for planning your day or just decompressing after museum-hopping.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel in Amsterdam, but it gets the fundamentals right. You’re paying for the location and the boutique experience, and on both counts, it delivers. The Museum Quarter location means you can actually walk to most of Amsterdam’s major attractions — the Anne Frank House is about fifteen minutes on foot, and the canals of the Jordaan are easily accessible. For travelers who want to be in the cultural heart of the city without dealing with the chaos of the Red Light District, this spot hits that sweet spot perfectly.
To book a hotel in Amsterdam during King’s Day, visitors plan ahead to balance orange-clad street parties with quiet Jordaan strolls.

What Our Guests Say
Amazing hitelt Near to all tourist spot and shops. Breakfast was amazing.
What could be improved: The main stairs at the entrance was hard to bring the luggage inside the property but once inside they got lift.
Highly recommend, friendly and helpful staff, great vibe, and perfect location. The hotel is right near the Rijks Museum and the Vondelgang Park, it could not be easier to find your way. And they have bikes for rent too!
What could be improved: I was late in making my booking so the price I paid for a small room was a bit dear.
Nice hotel with friendly staff in a good location Location, friendly staff
What could be improved: Bar shut early (11pm)
Perfect launching pad Has everything you need for a good night's sleep and provides a great launching pad for a stay in Amsterdam: well located for walking or public transport, clean, decent enough breakfast that starts early enough for business travellers
What could be improved: I don't mind a small room because my plans mean I'm out all day and using space efficiently means it's easy to pack for fast departure, but the cosy room might not appeal to travelers who want to spend leisure time in their room
Good The location, breakfast was great .
Room clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: The room was great .
Bathroom was poorly designed it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Floor slippery no grab bars extremely dangerous.
Superb What could be improved: There was only green tea which keeps you up. Otherwise no complaints
Fabulous for a 3 night city break with a group of 6 friends Stylish comfortable hotel and room breakfast was ok but had better and only 1 coffee machine working other broken
What could be improved: Just as leaving sat down on a very wet chair opposite reception and got wet having already packed and checked out 😱not ideal
Very enjoyable. Location, very friendly and efficient staff. Always clean.
What could be improved: Room was a bit small and shower / bathroom were way too small.
very good location
What could be improved: noisy room at the front of the hotel with internal door between 2 rooms. We could hear the TV, phone call conversations and everything that happened in that room
Great place, great service - the breakfast looks fantastic - easy in and easy out. Everything was neat and clean!!! Great look to the room
