First Impressions
Walking up to Kuwadro Guesthouse Jordaan on Haarlemmerdijk, you’ll notice it sits right in the thick of things — and I mean that in the best possible way. This four-star guesthouse doesn’t try to be flashy or grand, but there’s something immediately welcoming about the place. The building has that classic Amsterdam charm you’re hoping for, tucked into one of the city’s most authentic neighborhoods where locals actually live and work.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location here is pretty much perfect if you want to experience real Amsterdam rather than just the tourist version. The Jordaan district wraps around you with its narrow streets, cozy brown cafés, and those little shops that seem to have been there forever. You’re close enough to walk to the Anne Frank House or the main canals, but far enough from Dam Square that you won’t be dodging tour groups every five minutes. I actually love how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter streets together, especially in the evening when the canal lights start reflecting off the water.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Kuwadro strike that sweet spot between cozy and functional. You’re not getting massive space — this is Amsterdam, after all — but everything feels thoughtfully arranged. The room I stayed in had those tall windows that let in plenty of light during the day, and honestly, waking up to views of the neighborhood felt more authentic than staring at some generic city skyline. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll actually want to linger in the morning, maybe with coffee from one of the cafés downstairs.
Getting Around & Practical Matters
What I really appreciate about staying here is how walkable everything becomes. You can stroll to Centraal Station in about fifteen minutes, or hop on a tram if you’re feeling lazy. The Haarlemmerdijk itself is lined with interesting spots — there’s a great cheese shop just down the street, and several places where you can grab proper Dutch breakfast. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but that’s Amsterdam for you — most guests either walk everywhere or use the excellent public transport anyway.
Why Guests Love It
The thing that keeps people coming back to Kuwadro Guesthouse Jordaan is how it manages to feel like a local secret while still being professionally run. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people live their daily lives, not some sanitized hotel district. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the kind of places guidebooks miss — like which brown café has the best bitterballen or where to find vintage treasures at the Saturday markets. It’s the sort of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Amsterdam trip before you’ve even checked out.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Amsterdam around Oud-West for artisan bakeries, vintage shops, and leafy squares.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect property in a perfect location Firstly, great communication with hosts Goran and Johnny, very helpful with Goran informing us on places to visit in the city. The room was perfect for our stay. It was very clean, modern and stylish. It had a kettle, coffee machine, mini-fridge, TV, plenty of electrical sockets, the shower room had a lovely shower and there was a hairdryer too. The location was towards the end of a very busy pedestrianised street with lots of cafes and boutique shops. It was an easy, enjoyable walk into the city centre and similarly around a 15 minute walk to the railway station with very frequent trains to the airport. We absolutely loved our stay and are planning on returning very soon.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Great stay in the midst of the arty area of Jordaan. Clean and very comfortable. Great hosts who are very responsive.
What could be improved: Nothing!
Exceptional Great location, everything we needed in the room, very friendly welcome. Would highly recommend for a visit to Amsterdam. We loved being in such close proximity to Jordaan, a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the center.
Highly recommend. The location and the hosts were great. It is located right across the bus station that adds to the convenience. Goran and Johnny have been absolutely fantastic hosts. Highly recommend.
What could be improved: The room sizes were really small though.
Exceptional Whats up communication durinf the stay
Will stay again Everything
- Johnny is so professional- he made sure to contact me a couple of days before my arrival to set my expectations about booking a reservation and everything and that made me feel comfortable to ask questions!
- Goran is beyond amazing, he is the perfect host and so welcoming. Also, he helped me with my luggage.
- The room is fully equipped- the Nespresso machine made my day!
What could be improved: - steep stairs, but Goran helps with the luggage so no big deal
- they request the credit card details including the CVV number as a guarantee which is not something ok for me.
- I am not sure if was this by the accommodation or booking, but they charged me with an extra 40 Euros
Nice homely feel Nice homely feel with a very pleasant room. The en suite was compact but more than adequate with nice towels and plenty of toiletries. The bed was comfortable and sleeping was easy. Lovely area away from red light district.
What could be improved: No complaints about any aspect of this accomodation. The stairs were steep but that's what these houses are like.
Great apartment for stay in Amsterdam Location is really good on a street with many shops and restaurants, and it's a nice 10 min walk into the city center. Communication was also good with Johnny via WhatsApp. Bed was very comfortable. Small fridge for storing essentials.
What could be improved: Wasn't an issue for us, but walls/doors are thin and you might hear your "neighbours" pretty well.
Pleasant. Interesting fotos from one of the owners added a special touch to the room and corridor.
Great place to stay Owner was friendly and informative
