First Impressions
Walking up to JoyJoyJoy the White Wilde ecolicious studio in a historic Canalhouse from 1799 with terrace at the canals — yes, that’s actually the full name — you immediately know you’re in for something different. This four-star property sits right on Reguliersgracht, one of Amsterdam‘s most photogenic canals, and honestly, the building itself tells a story that goes back over two centuries. The narrow facade is classic Dutch architecture, but there’s something refreshingly modern about how they’ve approached the whole experience.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about this spot? You’re literally in Amsterdam City Centre, but it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. Reguliersgracht is one of those canals where locals actually live and work — I mean, you’ll see people cycling to their morning meetings right past your window. The location score of 9.5 makes total sense when you realize you can walk to the Rijksmuseum in about ten minutes, hit the Jordaan for dinner, or catch a tram to anywhere else in the city without breaking a sweat. Couples especially seem to love it here, and I get why — there’s something romantic about having your own little terrace overlooking the water.
The Studio Experience
The room itself is what they call an “ecolicious studio,” and while that might sound like marketing speak, they actually follow through on the concept. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — the space maximizes every square meter (which you’ll appreciate in Amsterdam) while keeping things comfortable. The historic bones of the 1799 building are still there, but they’ve updated it smartly for modern travelers. What really sets it apart is that private terrace — honestly, having your own outdoor space right on the canal is pretty special in this city.
What Makes It Special
The eco-friendly approach isn’t just a gimmick here — you’ll notice it in the details without it feeling preachy or inconvenient. They’ve managed to blend sustainability with comfort in a way that actually enhances the experience rather than limiting it. The historic setting adds character that you simply can’t get in newer hotels, and the fact that you’re staying in a building that’s been part of Amsterdam’s story for over 200 years gives the whole experience more weight. Plus, the terrace situation is genuinely rare — most canal-view accommodations don’t give you your own outdoor space.
Why Guests Love It
People keep coming back because this place delivers on its promises without trying too hard. The 8.5 rating reflects what you’d expect — solid comfort, great location, and something a bit special that you’ll remember after you leave. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Amsterdam, but it offers something that’s actually harder to find: a genuine connection to the city’s character while giving you modern comfort and your own little slice of canal life. When couples rate the location 9.8 for romantic trips, that tells you everything about how this place makes you feel about the city itself.

What could be improved: Nothing we didn't like - was perfect for us!
Perfect little find! Perfect location, quite upper class side of the city. 2 minutes to the supermarket and Tram (but you can walk everywhere if you wish)

Exceptional Stunning studio and great location! Highly recommend. Responsive and helpful host. Perfect cosy place to stay whilst in Amsterdam - close to Metro.
Nice place to stay for a long weekend / week with plenty to do, some lovely cafes and bars within 10 minutes and Nice location in the canals and 10 minutes walk from the Museum Quarter and 20 minutes to the 9 Streets. Lovely decor, and facilities in the room. On a quiet road overlooking the canal and 5 minutes walk to the Metro and 2 mins to the tram stop.
What could be improved: Nothing bad to report at all - host Cesar was super helpful and friendly
It made our stay much more enjoyable. It's directly on the canal in a lovely neighborhood. We walked everywhere. It's about 10 to 15 minutes away from the areas we wanted to explore. It's tastefully decorated and well stocked with anything we needed. I recommend it highly.
Great find Very comfortable cozy relaxing
What could be improved: You aren't able to cook here not a big problem but we did book this so we could have breakfast befor we left. Only thing I can away I didn't like.
The perfectly situated, home away from home❤️ We loved it! It was spacious and the chabby chic decor was perfect. The windows opened right up and being situated by the quiet part of the Canal was so picturesque.
The coffee machine was a lovely exclusive touch.
The bed was super comfortable.
The storage space was great.
We loved the walk in shower cubicle.
Everything was very clean.
The host sent lovely messages on the day and we felt welcomed and comfortable.
10/10 we would love to stay here again!
What could be improved: Below is some feedback that we would like to pass on as food for thought but these very small things were not a detriment to our trip and it would certainly not stop us from staying here again.
A full length mirror in the main room where all that natural light is would be incredible!
The plug socket above the bed meant we couldn’t really sit up.
The door to access the room was a bit stiff so did make a bit of a noise when opened and closed.
The water pressure in the shower could’ve been better.
The colour on the TV during the day was very dull and not facing directly in front of the bed or sofa which felt strange. But, equally I understand people don’t typically stay away to watch TV.
