Jordaan Canal View Apartment

First Impressions Walking up to the Jordaan Canal View Apartment on Marnixstraat, you immediately get that "this is why I came to Amsterdam" feeling.

First Impressions

Walking up to the Jordaan Canal View Apartment on Marnixstraat, you immediately get that “this is why I came to Amsterdam” feeling. The building sits right along one of those picture-perfect canals that make the city so special, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. This four-star place has that authentic Amsterdam vibe — no corporate hotel lobby, just a beautiful canal-side apartment that feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place who happens to have impeccable taste.

The Space Itself

The room setup here is what really won me over. You’re not dealing with some cramped hotel box — this is a proper apartment with enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. The canal views from the windows are absolutely worth the stay alone, especially in the morning when the light hits the water just right. I mean, you’ll find yourself just standing there with your coffee, watching the bikes go by and the boats drift past.

Location in the Jordaan

Being in the Jordaan district is like hitting the Amsterdam jackpot, and most tourists don’t realize how special this neighborhood actually is. You’re a short walk from the Anne Frank House, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by those little brown cafés and independent shops that locals actually frequent. The Noordermarkt is just around the corner — perfect for Saturday morning browsing and grabbing some proper Dutch cheese.

Practical Perks

What I appreciated most was having access to a proper kitchen — not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation. After a few days of Dutch pancakes and bitterballen (not complaining!), it’s nice to make a simple breakfast or grab groceries from the Albert Heijn down the street. The whole setup feels more like borrowing someone’s apartment than staying in tourist accommodation, which is exactly what you want in a neighborhood like this.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. You get that authentic Amsterdam canal house experience without sacrificing comfort or modern amenities. The combination of being in the heart of the Jordaan but still feeling tucked away from the tourist crowds is pretty much perfect. Plus, you can walk to most of the main sights, but you’re also positioned to discover those hidden gems that make Amsterdam trips memorable — like that tiny bookshop around the corner or the local café where they know how to make a proper cappuccino.

Exceptional Carlos is a gentleman. Very pleasant and had great tips on the area. Close to supermarkets and a straight 15m walk the centre and 20mins to central station.
Very quiet area.
Beautiful morning sunshine in the big windows and trees giving privacy while overlooking the canal. Great spot.

Exceptional The house is in super nice area, walking distance from many attractions and interesting sites, but also just walking in the surrounding area full of canals is magical! Carlos was really helpfull and I had a perfect stay.

I loved the warm and cozy atmosphere of your Amsterdam home What I loved the most about your home in Amsterdam were the warm atmosphere, the cozy living room, and the beautiful view from the windows. It felt both stylish and very welcoming.

Really appreciated the apartment during our stay in Amsterdam. It had everything we needed. Great location, pleasant walking distance to most attractions. Good public transport. Lovely part of Amsterdam to stay.

What could be improved: Nothing really

Superb The stay and apartment itself was great, we had our own personal view of the canal which was a bonus! Location is good, a good 20 minute walk away from the central city. All the essentials you need to have a comfortable stay.

What could be improved: Communication with the host could've been better as we had to wait an hour and use a neighbours cellphone to get in touch with him as we didn't have an international sim. We tried to message through booking.com but didn't receive a response so best to get a local sim if you have any check-in issues.

Fabulous location! The location is excellent - in Jordaan, and on the tram route. It's right on a canal, making the views on that side of the apartment simply superb. Well-equipped kitchen, updated bathroom, washing machine. lots of space compared to a hotel room. Shops, stores, restaurants within easy walk. Carlos, the host, is easy to contact, and responsive.

What could be improved: Late evening noise. Loud people walking along the canal, mild tram noise on the front side of the building. There's no AC (don't really need it) so the windows have to stay open for ventilation. The noise wasn't constant or overwhelming, just be aware you'll hear others in the neighborhood. Nowhere close to a show-stopper, though - we'd stay here again, for sure.

Beautiful - made our stay in Amsterdam The apartment was fabulous. It’s hard to catch the tranquility in the photos. The lounge area is just lovely. We had a range of weather, from a really hot first night and then thunderstorms the next night. There is no air conditioning but there are fans. You can leave the lounge doors open and the bedroom windows which creates a great cooling effect so we were comfortable in both weather conditions. It is walking distance to everything but you can escape the crowds. Washing machine, cooking facilities were good. Has an iron and ironing board.
