First Impressions
Walking into Jaz in the City Amsterdam, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical corporate hotel. The lobby buzzes with energy — there’s music playing (not too loud, thankfully), local art on the walls, and a vibe that feels more like a trendy café than a standard hotel check-in area. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, it punches above its weight in terms of style and atmosphere.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Zuidoost — it’s not where most tourists end up, but that’s actually part of the appeal. You’re about 15 minutes from central Amsterdam by metro, which runs frequently and connects right to the main train station. The immediate area around De Passage is pretty quiet, mostly residential with some office buildings, so you won’t have the canal-side charm, but you also won’t have the crowds and noise that come with staying in the city center.
The Room Experience
My room had this modern, almost minimalist design with pops of color that kept it from feeling sterile. The bed was surprisingly comfortable — I mean, you know how hotel beds can be hit or miss — and the shower had excellent water pressure. What I really appreciated was the workspace setup; there’s a proper desk with good lighting, plus plenty of outlets positioned where you actually need them.
Food & Social Spaces
The restaurant downstairs serves decent international fare, nothing groundbreaking but solid enough that you won’t feel like you’re settling. Breakfast is where they really shine though — fresh pastries, good coffee, and they do this thing with local cheeses that’s worth getting up for. The common areas are designed for hanging out, with these comfortable seating nooks where you’ll often find guests working on laptops or just chatting.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Jaz in the City Amsterdam apart is this balance they’ve struck between being hip and being practical. You get the boutique hotel experience without the boutique hotel prices, plus parking that doesn’t cost a fortune (which, if you’re driving in Amsterdam, you know is basically a miracle). The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, and it shows in how they interact with guests — friendly without being overly familiar, helpful without hovering.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Very close to the Zippo Arena
What could be improved: Bathroom door has a gap that you can you see in and out of
A great hotel in a fab location. Central to the AFAS live arena and railway networks and extremely comfortable.
What could be improved: They didn’t have any milk to make a hot drink despite providing tea and coffee! But that’s it!
Clean, close to the metro, good facilities Clean spacious room, good facilities and friendly staff and close to the metro
What could be improved: Breakfast too expensive
Great place to stay ,metro within an easy walk. Exceptional staff and lovely rooms. No noise from events arenas.
What could be improved: None
Very good Clean and nice, Near the stadium and the concert hall Arena. It’s a 5 minute walk from two train stations
What could be improved: I only didn’t like the chair because it was bent and uncomfortable
Exceptional Thank you, Amna. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, you welcomed us so warmly. It was a bit of a bummer that your time off overlapped with our trip, so we couldn’t get as much assistance from you as we did from others.
What could be improved: Regarding the water maintenance, it would have been great if you had notified us in advance, since you have our contact information such as email and phone number.
Good location Location was amazing since we had to attend a Rave which was going to happen in the big Stadium
What could be improved: Nothing to comment here
Great price value. Loved it. Great room, view, design, facilities, cleaningness, close to the stadion.
What could be improved: At shower, water was flooding the bathroom.
Parking 1 was noit accesible, and had to try p4 also not, then worked out on p5. Which was 36 euro.
Conor and Amy's stay Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were brilliant and comfortable. Nice view of the ziggo dome. Ventured into local market and also got to experience fans on game day at the Ajax football game.
What could be improved: Nothing. Hotel is outside of City but most uber journeys were only 20 euro so made sense instead of using local transport.
Comfortable Comfortable
