IRU, not for parties, not a hotel, room with no kitchen
First Impressions Let me be honest — IRU, not for parties, not a hotel, room with no kitchen has probably the most straightforward name I've ever encountered.
First Impressions
Let me be honest — IRU, not for parties, not a hotel, room with no kitchen has probably the most straightforward name I’ve ever encountered. The owner clearly knows what they’re offering and isn’t trying to dress it up as something it’s not. This four-star property sits right on Koningsstraat in Amsterdam City Centre, and when I say right in the heart of things, I mean you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Amsterdam special. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm — narrow, tall, and squeezed between its neighbors like books on a shelf.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what’s rare? Finding a place where the location lives up to the hype, but this one actually does. With a location score of 9.5, it’s not just marketing speak — I mean, you can walk to the Royal Palace, Dam Square, and the Red Light District without breaking a sweat. The Jordaan neighborhood is a pleasant stroll away, and honestly, some of Amsterdam’s best brown cafés are practically on your doorstep. Couples seem to get it — they’ve rated the location 9.4 for romantic trips, and I can see why. There’s something about being able to wander back to your room after dinner without dealing with trams or taxis.
What You’re Actually Getting
The name tells you everything — this isn’t a traditional hotel experience, and there’s no kitchen to speak of. It’s more like staying in someone’s well-appointed guest room, which honestly works perfectly for Amsterdam. The space is clean, comfortable, and designed for people who plan to spend their days exploring rather than cooking meals. The “not for parties” part isn’t just a suggestion either — they’re serious about maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, which I actually appreciated after long days walking the canals.
The Amsterdam Experience
What I love about staying here is how quickly you slip into local rhythms. Morning coffee at the café downstairs, then you’re off to the Rijksmuseum or Anne Frank House — both easily walkable. The evening routine becomes grabbing dinner somewhere in the neighborhood (and trust me, you’re spoiled for choice), then maybe a drink along the canals before heading back. The 7.6 rating feels about right — it’s not trying to be fancy, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it understands what most Amsterdam visitors actually need — a comfortable base in an unbeatable location without unnecessary frills. The couples who rave about it get that romance in Amsterdam isn’t about room service or spa treatments — it’s about wandering cobblestone streets and discovering hidden courtyards together. If you’re looking for a straightforward, well-located place to crash between adventures, and you appreciate honesty over marketing fluff, this spot delivers. Just don’t expect a kitchen or party atmosphere — but then again, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene and cozy brown cafés right outside your door, why would you want either?
Hotels in Amsterdam hug storybook canals, museum quarters, and bike lanes shaded by elms.

What Our Guests Say
Good Excellent Location, Fantastic Host, Reasonable Price, The Room is pretty basic but has everything you need and no stairs which is a big plus for Amsterdam 😀
What could be improved: Fairly Basic but has everything you need for a couple of days away
Very good It locates near the central station and also a Metro station. It is very convenient to visit the rest of the city by either taking a subway or by walking.
What could be improved: The soundproofing in the room is not very good, I can here the people from other room talking clearly.
Good A great place to stay, close to the city Centre
What could be improved: No bathing soap provided
Superb What could be improved: I would add the handle with the key to the bathroom door
everything you need close to the city centre the shower and how clean it was
What could be improved: no access to fresh air (windows)
Perfect place! What could be improved: The people upstairs were very loud but aside from that we had a lovely time. Sailina was so helpful!
The stay was good:) The hostel was perfect for us.
It is very central in Amsterdam. My brother and I felt very comfortable. The room was clean and sufficient for us.
The hostess Sailina was very nice, she showed us everything and we were able to leave our luggage in the hostel for 2 hours on the day of departure. We can recommend the hostel. Thanks again to Sailina :)
What could be improved: The hostel is rather simple, there are not many facilities but the essentials are there. And it's enough for a city trip :)
chill little room, great for the night! great location and super easy check in process, the room is cozy if you’re just there to sleep and get ready for your day :-)
Good experience. Good location, easy check in and check out, good communication, well informed. Just be careful don't confuse door numbers.
What could be improved: Maybe adding water heater for coffee tea will be good. Information about if the tap water is drinkable or not. And I couldn't find a place for hanging clothes. Dress hanger will be good if added.
Best location It was in the middle of the city. You can go literally anywhere by walking. It was clean and there was a good wifi. We can always reach out to landlord and he was so helplful. We brought our luggages early and take them late at the night and it was not a problem at all.
What could be improved: The room is very small and so is restroom but it works if you don’t have kid and stay just for sleeping
