First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Inn Het Nest, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from this four-star spot on the outskirts of Amsterdam. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you venture beyond the tourist center. This place sits in the Geuzenveld-Slotermeer neighborhood, and while that might sound intimidating to pronounce, it’s actually a refreshingly authentic slice of Amsterdam life. The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you, and there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about staying outside Amsterdam’s ring roads — you get the best of both worlds. The parking situation alone makes this place worth considering (and trust me, finding free parking in Amsterdam is like striking gold). You’re about 15 minutes by tram to the city center, which honestly isn’t bad at all. I mean, you’ll spend that much time walking between museums in the Museumplein anyway. Plus, there’s something nice about coming back to a quieter neighborhood after a day of navigating tourist crowds and bicycle traffic.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what I needed — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without trying too hard. The beds are properly comfortable (not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes encounter), and the bathrooms are modern and well-maintained. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone actually thinks about guest comfort. The lighting works for both reading and getting ready, there’s enough space to unpack without living out of your suitcase, and the windows actually open if you prefer fresh air over air conditioning.
Practical Perks
The breakfast situation is solid — nothing fancy, but everything you need to start your day properly. Fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several nights. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, which you notice in small ways throughout your visit. They’re helpful with directions and recommendations without being pushy, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give useful advice about getting around.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ve ever stayed in, but it delivers on the things that actually matter. Couples especially seem to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the fact that you can have a proper conversation without competing with lobby noise or street chaos. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience the place — it’s one of those hotels that exceeds expectations by focusing on doing the basics really well. You’ll sleep better, spend less on parking and accommodation, and still have easy access to everything Amsterdam offers. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Hotels in Amsterdam line historic canals, museum quarters, and buzzing neighborhoods filled with cozy cafés.

What could be improved: Nulla
Comfortable and accommodation location and hosts! Perfect for a getaway. The Inn Het Nest was a wonderful place to stay and in a great location. The room was comfortable, with all the necessary items, dishes, dishwasher, coffee etc. Free wifi worked great. IT was just outside the city and there was plenty of shops, grocery stores etc. in the direct vicinity. The free bikes that were provided were also immensely helpful! Our hosts were very kind and accommodating and quick to respond to requests.
What could be improved: There was a bit of a heatwave so the room did get warm. I would recommend having a fan to assist with air circulation. The windows being open did help but there was mosquitos that then would come in but otherwise no complaints!
Peaceful and amazing. The property is slightly remote so catching Uber or taxi might require a bit of finesse. It is a bit further from the city, however, is located between Amsterdam and Haarlem.
The air is clean and fresh. The accomodation is beautiful and very self contained. They provide bikes which is soo convenient for shopping and exploring. The owners are super welcoming. There’s goats and lovely neighbours.
Side quest: If you are looking for a gym- ClubWest was great for a trial and has all the facilities. As it’s a middle eastern community they do facilitate women only times and male only times for other cheaper gyms.
What could be improved: There’s nothing I disliked about the property.
Uncontrolled circumstances would be another tenant who was stomping round for several hours in the late nights to morning. I’d recommend booking their biggest room.
Exceptional Great accommodation. Great host. The free bikes were a massive bonus & would definitely stay here again.
Muy confortable. El apartamento está muy bien equipado y limpio. Todo muy cómodo.
What could be improved: Nada
Cute little cottage, difficult location. The master bedroom was stunning with a lot of natural light and air - super comfortable and peaceful. The property was very clean and provided free bikes throughout the duration of our stay.
What could be improved: The location was a nightmare - really difficult to find and cars cannot access the house directly so you have to get dropped off at least a 15 minute walk away or ride a bike to access the property which was less than ideal when arriving home late at night. This should be made super clear as part of the booking advert.
There is also nothing close within walking distance (other than one super market 20 min walk away). If you’re looking for a vibrant area with more energy/ buzz that is easy to access, this is not the place to stay. Unfortunately I do not feel this property was the best value for money. Though the flat was cute and clean, the master bedroom had two double beds put together, the second bedroom was incredibly small with no windows, there was no freezer or coffee for the machine etc, but above all else the location was just far too difficult. It would be more ideal for 2 people, definitely not 4. Lovely hosts and little cottage - just not right for our group.
Exceptional Logement très bien situé, hôtes très accueillants, tout était parfait !
Gorgeous Beautiful house, great host, and use of bikes was super fun
