First Impressions
Walking into INK Hotel Amsterdam – MGallery Collection, you immediately sense you’re somewhere different. The building itself has this fascinating history — it used to house a newspaper, and honestly, they’ve done something really clever with that heritage. The lobby feels like a modern newsroom crossed with a boutique hotel, with dark wood, industrial touches, and these oversized vintage press photos covering the walls. It’s not trying too hard to be trendy, which I actually appreciate.
Prime Amsterdam Location
The location on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal is pretty brilliant if you know Amsterdam at all. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Dam Square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant tourist chaos. I mean, you can easily walk to the Anne Frank House, the Red Light District, or catch a tram to the museums — but you’re also right next to some excellent local cafés that most visitors never discover. The four-star property sits perfectly between the main action and the quieter canal-side streets where locals actually hang out.
The Rooms
My room had this smart, minimalist design that felt distinctly Dutch without being cliché about it. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-brochure comfortable), and the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards. What I liked most was the attention to details — proper lighting for reading, plenty of outlets where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that work. The newspaper theme continues subtly here with typography-inspired art, but it never feels gimmicky.
Dining and Social Spaces
The restaurant downstairs, Pressroom, serves solid international cuisine with a focus on fresh ingredients. It’s not groundbreaking, but the quality is consistent and the atmosphere works whether you’re having a business dinner or just grabbing a late bite. The bar area gets lively in the evenings — mostly international business travelers and some savvy locals who’ve discovered it’s a good spot for cocktails without the tourist markup you’ll find closer to the main squares.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it balances accessibility with character. You’re getting genuine Amsterdam charm without sacrificing modern comfort, and the staff actually seems to enjoy working here — they’ll give you real recommendations, not just the standard tourist suggestions. The MGallery Collection standards show in the service quality and room amenities, but it doesn’t feel corporate or sterile. For the price point in this part of Amsterdam, you’re getting solid value, especially if you appreciate thoughtful design and want to be walking distance from everything that matters.

What Our Guests Say
Very much recommend this hotel for a stay in Brussels. Quiet and comfortable. Restaurant was nice for an airport hotel Close to train station and very modern and great staff.
What could be improved: Nothing to dislike.
Perfect for a two week stay in Amsterdam Directly in the city center, easy to get around the city, or take a train to another city from here. Staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The umbrella penalty is a bit steep for missing the return, it might be better to just buy an umbrella.
Too short but lovely stay. I would return to Ink Hotel. Location. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Spent a lot of time ensuring we were properly informed about the hotel, facilities, the neighbourhood. The hotel restaurant (Pressroom) was excellent and service was personable and professional.
What could be improved: The RAIN!! It was Amsterdam after all.
Lovely stay! Would 100% recommend to stay here if visiting Amsterdam. Very central and close to all the canals. Can explore more of Amsterdam walking if staying here. And very creatively done rooms.
Perfect for our first stay in Amsterdam Property was clean, in a great location and the staff was super friendly!
What could be improved: Nothing, it was so great!
Exceptional It was a great location. Really central to everything.
What could be improved: Because it was so central, it got very busy on the street but having said that, the room was quiet so it was only a bit annoying when coming and going.
Exceptional The design elements and theming.
The quietness absolutely lovely even though a busy hotel.
The staff friendly but laid back.
What could be improved: Nothing
Quick trip to Amsterdam and perfect place to stay Great location, clean, lovely staff and super modern. The breakfast was so amazing
What could be improved: Everything was perfect
Very good It was only seven minutes walk from the station and a short walk to the Dam square and Anne franks museum
Great central location, modern and comfortable choice. The location was great, an easy walk from the railway with bags, and then central to all the main sites and restaurants. Very comfortable bed and beautifully fluffy towels. We also appreciated the generous bathrobes.
What could be improved: The room was a bit small with 2 large bags, they took up pretty much all the remaining space, otherwise it was lovely. I would’ve appreciated any type of mirror outside of the bathroom! The aircon wasn’t working but they provided a Dyson which was okay until they needed to take the remote for another guest - 2 heaters with one operating remote - go figure!
