First Impressions
Walking into ibis Amsterdam Centre, you’ll immediately notice how the place manages to feel both modern and welcoming without trying too hard. The lobby’s got that clean, streamlined vibe that ibis does well — nothing fancy, but everything works exactly as it should. What really struck me was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to help, not just going through the motions like you sometimes get at chain hotels.
Prime Location
Here’s the thing about this hotel — it’s literally right at Centraal Station, which sounds hectic but actually works in your favor. You can hop off a train from Schiphol and be checking in within minutes, no confusing tram rides required. Amsterdam‘s canal ring is just a short walk away, and honestly, being able to duck back to your room between sightseeing sessions is pretty great. The Red Light District is close enough if that’s your thing, but the hotel itself sits in a spot that doesn’t feel overwhelming.
The Room Experience
Look, this is a three-star hotel, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or panoramic canal views. What you get instead is a compact, well-designed space that actually feels thought-out. The bed’s surprisingly comfortable — I slept better than expected — and there’s enough storage for a week’s worth of clothes if you’re not overpacking. The bathroom’s small but functional, with decent water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like industrial cleaner.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves solid international fare, though honestly, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside your door, you’d be crazy to eat every meal here. That said, their breakfast buffet hits the right notes — proper Dutch cheese, decent coffee, and enough variety to fuel your canal-hopping adventures. There’s also a bar that’s perfect for a quick drink before heading out, though it’s not the kind of place you’d spend your entire evening.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is how it gets the basics absolutely right without any unnecessary fuss. You’re not paying for amenities you won’t use — instead, you get clean, comfortable accommodations in an unbeatable location. The 24-hour front desk actually means something here, especially when you’re dealing with late trains or early flights. Plus, having Centraal Station right there means the entire city feels accessible, whether you’re exploring the Jordaan neighborhood or taking day trips to places like Zaanse Schans.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Amsterdam before autumn brings golden leaves, pumpkin soups, and cozy canal reflections.

Superb Very good
What could be improved: Very good
Very good Friendliness of staff, accessibility and the take away section which I never used but found it uselful. The bed was super comfortable and I am grateful they gave me a double instead of two single beds. The room was huge and the view was stunning. Had a lot of natural sunlight during the day that gave enough light to not need a light
What could be improved: The fact that the drain in the sink amd the shower took to long to clear.
Great☺️ We loved our stay here! It was the perfect location literally above the train station! Very clean and the staff were so lovely - Sacha who checked us in was so helpful and the housekeepers are fantastic ☺️
What could be improved: The only negative is I wish there was a fridge in our room!
