First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel & Wellness Zuiver along the Koenenkade, you’ll notice it’s not trying too hard to impress — and that’s actually refreshing. This three-star property sits quietly in the Zuideramstel district, which honestly feels more like discovering a neighborhood secret than landing in tourist central. The building has this clean, modern look without being flashy, and there’s something about the name “Zuiver” (meaning “pure” in Dutch) that really captures the vibe here.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Zuideramstel — you’re technically in Amsterdam, but it feels worlds away from the crowded canals and coffee shop chaos. The area has this residential charm where you’ll see locals cycling to work in the morning and families walking along the Amstel River. You’re about 15 minutes by tram to the city center, which means you get the best of both worlds: easy access to all the tourist stuff when you want it, but a peaceful retreat when you don’t.
The Room Experience
My room was surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards — I mean, we all know hotel rooms here can be tiny. The wellness theme carries through with this zen-like simplicity: clean lines, neutral colors, and none of that overwhelming hotel decor that makes you feel claustrophobic. The bed was genuinely comfortable, and I appreciated the little touches like blackout curtains that actually work (you know how hit-or-miss that can be) and a decent shower with good water pressure.
Wellness Focus
The wellness aspect isn’t just marketing fluff — they’ve got a proper spa setup that feels more authentic than gimmicky. I spent some time in their sauna after a long day of walking around the city, and it was exactly what I needed. The facilities aren’t huge, but they’re well-maintained and there’s this calming atmosphere that makes you want to slow down. They also have fitness equipment if you’re one of those people who actually uses hotel gyms (props to you).
Why Guests Love It
Look, Hotel & Wellness Zuiver won’t blow you away with fancy amenities or Michelin-starred dining, but that’s not the point. What it does well is provide a solid, comfortable base in Amsterdam without the premium prices of central hotels. The staff genuinely seems to care about your stay, parking is available (which is practically a miracle in this city), and you’ll sleep well knowing you’re not fighting crowds just to get to your front door. It’s the kind of place that makes sense if you want to experience Amsterdam like a temporary local rather than a tourist checking boxes.

What Our Guests Say
Great healthy oasis with access to the city by tram within 20 minutes. Breakfast was great with plenty of healthy options.
Very good Clean facilities and helpful staff
What could be improved: No access to the wellness facilities included with the hotel.
Superb Great value for money! Rooms were súper comfy and the breakfast was unreal!
Spa although not included is welll worth the extra €30. Will definitely be back!!
Comfortable and refreshing spa hotel stay clean, modern, comfortable, modern.
What could be improved: the process to book the spa on both days was very messy. and arranging spa visits around checkout day was also messy. the staff were very helpful but I had to pay twice, switch wristbands etc. It would be nice if you simply gave me access to the spa on both checkin and checkout days for one fee.
Comfort for a night Easily accesible, spacious rooms, an amazing shower!!
What could be improved: My twin beds were not connected and I fell through the gap in the middle of the night 😅 - can happen
Superb It's a very nice hotel with a huge welness aria, the reason we choose the hotel. We paid €30 pp and we could spend there 12 hours! The price is more than fair.
The wellness includes more than 10 different saunas, where a sauna master preforms, it's great 👍
The restaurant is right there as well, so we could spend a whole day relaxing. We also visited massage room, it was nice.
Breakfast was okay.
Overall really great especially the sauna is exceptional the sauna is exceptional
breakfast has a good and healthy variety
staff is very friendly, everything is very clean..
What could be improved: there was no fridge in the standards room
it would be nice if there was some sort of cafe with music or entertainment in the evening .
Change staff and focus on hotel guests. Love the spa, but a bit to crowded in the evening, no special priority for the hotel guests! The food was excellent.
What could be improved: The young girls in the restaurant (lounge area) was a bit arrogant, took us 40 minutes to order a bring me back to bali. They passed us 5 times and took orders from guests arriving after us, in the end my husband had to go and ask if we could order. Arrived before 21.00 but due to their slow service we were told it is to late to order humus or anything because the kitchen was closed. The waitress in the restaurant we’re during our lunch were lovely. I miss a restaurant outside the spa and maybe a bar in the lobby for relaxing would get the vibe up.
Very good Excellent Spa facilities
Ideal relaxing weekend escape The gym, breakfast and spa were amazing and perfect for a relaxing weekend. I also liked the fact it was slightly out of town and therefore quieter and the surroundings were ideal for walks or runs.
What could be improved: The spa isn’t included in hotel price which feels less ‘smooth’ and it starts to get very expensive.
