First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Mansion on Prins Hendrikkade, you’ll notice it’s got that classic Amsterdam canal house charm — tall, narrow, and wedged between buildings that have been watching over the city for centuries. The entrance is understated in that Dutch way, nothing flashy, just solid and dependable. I mean, you’re literally steps from Central Station, so there’s always this gentle hum of city life around you, but it never feels overwhelming.
Location & Heart of Amsterdam
Honestly, you can’t beat this spot in Amsterdam City Centre. I’ve walked from here to Dam Square in about eight minutes, and the Red Light District is practically around the corner if that’s your thing. What I actually love most is how close you are to those lovely canal boat tours — you know, the ones where you can actually see the city from water level. The three-star rating might seem modest, but the location alone makes it feel like you’re getting way more value than you’re paying for.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact — well, it’s Amsterdam, so that’s pretty much expected — but thoughtfully laid out. The windows are these tall, traditional Dutch ones that let in tons of natural light during the day, and honestly, watching people cycle past with their groceries never gets old. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space considering the building’s age. You won’t find a sprawling suite here, but everything you actually need is there.
Daily Rhythms and Amenities
Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor area that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel dining room, which I found pretty charming. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing — they’ll point you toward the best stroopwafel stand or tell you which tram gets you to the Rijksmuseum fastest. There’s no fancy spa or elaborate fitness center, but there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics right rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Hotel Mansion is how it feels authentically Amsterdam without any tourist-trap nonsense. You’re staying in a real part of the city where locals actually live and work, not some sanitized hotel district. The 8.2 rating makes perfect sense — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers exactly what it promises. If you want to wake up and immediately be part of Amsterdam rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.

What Our Guests Say
Good Location is perfect.
What could be improved: The room was located in basement without windows and low air flow.
Good Very clean and the location was perfect, the staff were also very friendly
What could be improved: Our room was on the small side and we didn’t have a fridge
Really pleasant and comfortable and it suited our requirements to the tee. Location and proximity to train station were major likes. Also its proximity to good restaurants and museums. The hotel was super clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
What could be improved: No negativity
First visit to Amsterdam was made special because Hotel Mansion made it so comfortable! Clean, towel service, coffee in room , nice staff and location 🙌
What could be improved: All great!
Comfortable stay in a good location. The location is very good. Close to Centraal station and a short walk to restaurants and bars. Easy to find. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The shower was great, sometimes in older properties they can be a bit poky but the bathroom was a good size with a great walk in shower.
What could be improved: Could have done with extra pillows. But otherwise nothing to dislike.
Good I was able to book a room on a pretty short notice and the location is pretty good. My room was small but clean and had everything I needed - a comfortable bed and a private bathroom - and the staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: This wasn't a problem for me, but the layout of the place is a little quirky. The elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor, so if your room is on the third, you'll also need to navigate some awkward stairs which could be tricky with substantial luggage and/or if you have mobility issues.
Also, there's a bar right next door, so it'd probably be loud if you were on that side of the building.
Very good The staff were super friendly, and ready to help. Polite, positive attitude.
What could be improved: A bit pricey for a room that you can hear the front door slam shut. However, we did visit during a very busy weekend.
Great Online check-in and check-out.
The room is spacious .
Quite area .
What could be improved: The room is located on a floor where the elevator doesn't reach . It actually stops on the 2nd floor .
Superb Location was perfect.
What could be improved: The twin beds were very small.
All in all a pleasant stay with super friendly staff on a top location. First we were assigned the room in the top of the hotel, which is a room for 4 people. We booked a room for 2. The room in the top is ok, but under the roof which felt a bit ackward. We went to the reception to discuss, and the receptionist mentioned she will do her utmost to rebook us for the second nice to the room we initially booked. This was done in a friendly and positive manner. Although we believe the mistake should not have happened in the first place, we did not want to ruin our stay and accepted to solution. The second night was great and the room was very nice with view over the water. All in all a pleasant stay on a top location.
