First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Cornelisz on PC Hooftstraat, you immediately get that “I’m in the right place” feeling. The building has this classic Amsterdam charm — you know, those tall narrow windows and elegant facade that fits perfectly with the upscale neighborhood vibe. It’s not trying too hard to be flashy, which I actually appreciate. The entrance feels welcoming without being overwhelming, and honestly, the staff greeting you sets the tone right away — they seem genuinely happy to see you rather than just going through the motions.
Prime Location in Oud Zuid
Here’s the thing about staying on PC Hooftstraat — you’re literally in Amsterdam’s most coveted area, and it shows. I mean, this is where locals come when they want to feel fancy, with designer boutiques and art galleries practically at your doorstep. The Rijksmuseum is just a few minutes’ walk away, and Vondelpark is right there when you need to escape the city buzz. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about strolling these tree-lined streets in the evening. The tram connections are excellent too, so you can easily hop over to the canal ring or central station without any hassle.
The Rooms
The rooms at Hotel Cornelisz strike that sweet spot between comfortable and stylish without breaking the bank. They’re not huge — this is Amsterdam, after all — but they’re thoughtfully designed with everything you actually need. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern and clean. What I liked most was the attention to details like good lighting and enough outlets for your devices. Some rooms have lovely street views, though fair warning — PC Hooftstraat can get a bit lively, especially on weekends.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast setup here is pretty solid — they offer both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on your mood. The buffet has all the Dutch staples you’d expect, plus some international touches that work well. I found myself going back for the local cheeses and fresh bread more than once. The breakfast room has a nice atmosphere, not too formal but pleasant enough that you don’t feel rushed. It’s the kind of meal that sets you up properly for a day of museum-hopping or shopping along the nearby streets.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this three-star hotel work is the combination of location and value — you’re staying in one of Amsterdam’s most desirable neighborhoods without paying five-star prices. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something about the romantic appeal of the area. You can walk to major attractions, enjoy some of the city’s best shopping, and still retreat to a comfortable, well-run hotel at the end of the day. It’s that rare find where the location score of 9.3 isn’t just marketing speak — you genuinely feel like you’re in the heart of what makes Amsterdam special.

What Our Guests Say
Superb Convenient location (just steps away from the most popular museums, restaurants and bars area), great staff, superb link to the airport (bus 397 that goes from/to airport is also steps away), simple but delicious and plentiful breakfast, cleanliness of the room.
What could be improved: Room walls are a bit thin so this hotel may not work for sensitive sleepers.
Very good Excellent calm location right next to museums and good restaurants. Within walking distance to everywhere in the center. Metro station was close.
What could be improved: Room was very very small. Walls and door are not sound proof, we could hear our neighbours talking.
Superb Localisation in the heart of museum quarter. Close to attractions and transport.
