First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Allure on Sarphatistraat, you’ll immediately notice it’s got that understated Amsterdam charm — no flashy signs or grand entrance, just a neat facade that blends right into the neighborhood. The lobby is compact but thoughtfully designed, with modern touches that feel fresh without trying too hard. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you feel at home within minutes of checking in.
Prime City Centre Location
The location is honestly what sold me on this place. You’re right in Amsterdam City Centre, which means you can walk to pretty much everything that matters — the canals, museums, and those cozy brown cafes are all within striking distance. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes from the Flower Market and maybe ten minutes to Dam Square if you don’t get distracted by all the canal-side photo opportunities along the way.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was smaller than what you might expect coming from other cities, but that’s Amsterdam for you — space is premium here. What impressed me was how they maximized every inch without making it feel cramped. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom was surprisingly modern with good water pressure (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in older European buildings). The windows actually open properly, which is great for those mild Amsterdam evenings when you want some fresh air.
Neighborhood Feel
What I really appreciated was stepping outside and immediately feeling like I was in a real Amsterdam neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. There’s a local café right around the corner where you’ll see actual locals having their morning coffee, and the whole Sarphatistraat area has this lived-in vibe that makes you feel less like a tourist. You’ll find yourself walking past centuries-old buildings mixed with contemporary shops — it’s that classic Amsterdam blend that somehow just works.
Why Guests Love It
This three-star spot isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable, and they’ll give you solid local recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist traps. For the price point and location, you’re getting excellent value — especially considering you’re saving money that you can spend on actually experiencing Amsterdam rather than just sleeping in a fancy hotel room.
