First Impressions
Walking into Hilton Amsterdam, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel experience. The marble lobby feels grand but not intimidating, and there’s something refreshingly understated about the whole place — no flashy chandeliers or over-the-top displays, just refined luxury that lets you breathe. The staff actually remembers your name after the first interaction, which honestly surprised me given how busy this five-star property gets.
Prime Location in Oud Zuid
The location on Apollolaan is brilliant, really — you’re right in Amsterdam‘s most upscale neighborhood without feeling disconnected from the city’s energy. The Concertgebouw is literally a three-minute walk away, and you know what? You can sometimes hear the faint sounds of rehearsals if you’re in the right room with the windows open. The Museum Quarter feels like your backyard, and tram lines practically run past your door, making it ridiculously easy to reach the canal district or Central Station.
Sophisticated Accommodations
The rooms strike this perfect balance between contemporary comfort and classic elegance — think warm wood tones, marble bathrooms, and those enormous windows that flood everything with natural light. I mean, the beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms feature separate rainfall showers that actually have proper water pressure. What impressed me most was the attention to detail: quality linens, well-positioned outlets, and blackout curtains that actually work.
Dining and Amenities
The HLK Bar & Restaurant serves surprisingly good modern European cuisine — I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel restaurant, but their seasonal menu actually competes with standalone Amsterdam establishments. The spa facilities are compact but well-designed, with a decent fitness center that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. There’s covered parking available, which is honestly a godsend in this part of the city where street spots are nearly impossible to find.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it delivers luxury without the pretense — you get impeccable service, a prime location, and genuine comfort without feeling like you’re paying for marble just because it’s marble. The neighborhood itself is what really seals the deal: you’re staying where locals actually want to live, surrounded by excellent cafes, high-end boutiques, and easy access to both cultural attractions and the city’s famous nightlife. It’s the kind of place where you can feel equally comfortable heading out for a morning jog through Vondelpark or getting dressed up for an evening at the opera.
Hotels in Amsterdam line historic canals, museum quarters, and buzzing neighborhoods filled with cozy cafés.

What Our Guests Say
Good functional hotel Good functional hotel close to a few museums
What could be improved: No complaints
It was a pleasant stay, just within the expectations from Hilton. Nothing outstanding nor too wrong We had a spacious corner room, with balcony and access to executive floor. The outside bar area was on one channel, very relaxing and well equipped.
What could be improved: The receptionist at our arriving was slow and confused - we had two different reservations, one on booking.com and one directly, but it took ages for her to figure it out. If only she was listening.... :-) I have forgotten a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and nobody seemed to care when i called to ask.
Relaxing short break with a friend Beautiful front area on the canal , lovely bar area and rooms
What could be improved: Nothing comes to mind
Very good Facility overall, location and spacious rooms.
What could be improved: Bathrooms a bit dated. Breakfast should be more varied. Didnt have fish at all eventhough its given in Holland.
Superb Excellent hotel, nice facilities, friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Onsite parking.
You should work on the value of money and the service provided Food was good but the variety in the main restaurant was very limited, the rooms were very clean and quiet
What could be improved: Service wasn’t good, very slow, housekeeping never delivered anything you asked for and never apologies for not to. No one is there to help you with your luggage and also the working hours of the souvenir shop was really ridiculous.
Superb Staff was friendly
Overall rooms and cleanliness were very good
What could be improved: The rates had fallen on the day of checkin
Direct hotel rates were higher, even using Hilton honors than Booking.com
Excellent! See you next year. Although the location was not ideal for me (not in walking distance to RAI), the hotel as such and the clean and spacious room with its canal view while working made up for this. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Longer waiting time at the bar (terrasse outside), but not something unacceptable.
Great hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Clean everywhere. Staff competent, friendly and helpful without exception. Room was spacious. Gardens and bar areas were nice.
What could be improved: The pillows were all too soft / flat.
Very good Nice breakfest offering different savoury and sweet options.
What could be improved: Dinner at Hotel restaurant. To call it a fine Italian dining is an insult to italian cuisine.
