First Impressions
The Golden Mansion Aparthotel sits on a quiet stretch of Huidekoperstraat, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking. It’s tucked into one of those classic Amsterdam canal house facades that blends seamlessly with the neighborhood — no flashy signage or tourist crowds out front. I actually appreciated this low-key approach, especially after dealing with the chaos around some of the bigger hotels in the city center.
Location & Neighborhood
This three-star property puts you right in the heart of Amsterdam, but on a street that feels more residential than touristy. You’re a five-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, which means you can actually pop back to your room between museum visits without it being a whole production. The nearby cafés along Utrechtsestraat are where locals actually go for coffee, not just tourists following guidebooks.
The Apartment Experience
What sets this place apart is that you’re getting an apartment rather than just a hotel room — and I mean a proper apartment with a full kitchen. The units I saw were surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards, with tall windows that let in tons of natural light. The kitchenette setup is actually functional too, not just decorative like some places. You know what I loved? Having space to spread out and not feel like I was living out of a suitcase.
Daily Life Here
The staff runs a pretty relaxed operation — no hovering concierges or overly formal check-in process. There’s a small breakfast area, though honestly, with the kitchen in your apartment and the Albert Cuyp Market just a short walk away, I found myself cooking more than I expected. The building itself has that old Amsterdam charm with narrow staircases and creaky floors, so don’t expect modern hotel polish everywhere.
Why Guests Love It
This place works well if you want to actually live in Amsterdam for a few days rather than just visit it. The apartment setup gives you flexibility that regular hotels can’t match, and the location puts you in the museum district without the premium prices of the big international chains. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but that 8.2 rating makes sense — it delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.
Exploring Amsterdam blends gabled houses, world-class museums, and vibrant neighborhoods glowing with canal lights.

What Our Guests Say
Very comfy and pleasant stay would stay again Great location, very large apartment and beds and pillow very comfy
What could be improved: Steep stairs if on 2nd floor
Amsterdam and the apartment both met our high expectations. Location. Condition. Quiet in our rooms overlooking the garden.
What could be improved: Communal areas a bit solemn.
A couple of minor niggles regarding electrical equipment.
Great stay for one night, I would pick a different location if I was only doing more then one night. Enjoyed the room, for a group of 3 it was nice to have a separate bedroom.
What could be improved: They collected a deposit and when checking out the machine wasn’t working and my card was charged twice and hopefully it was all corrected and I’m appropriately refunded. There is not much around this location to eat or buy groceries. For an Amsterdam hotel it was very strict but felt safe.
Comfortable stay in a quiet area. Quiet location and large, well equipped apartment. Generous tea and coffee making facilities.
What could be improved: Just might want to check the location and local transport if travelling by train.
Superb Room was big, good facilities, great location.
What could be improved: No lift, Some towels need to be changed.
Good The location is very good and the room was clean, which made it comfortable to stay with our two children.
What could be improved: It would be even better if the kitchen was equipped with more utensils
