First Impressions
Walking up to Cozy Jordaan canalhouse near Anne Frank House feels like stepping into one of those Amsterdam postcards — except this time, you actually get to stay inside. The building sits right on Brouwersgracht, which locals will tell you is one of the prettiest canals in the city, and honestly, they’re not wrong. This four-star property has that authentic Dutch charm you can’t fake, with the narrow facade and steep stairs that make you wonder how they ever got furniture up there.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re smack in the heart of the Jordaan district, which means you’ll be surrounded by tiny art galleries, brown cafés, and those impossibly narrow streets that somehow fit centuries of history. The Anne Frank House is literally around the corner — maybe a three-minute walk — so you can actually time your visit for when the crowds thin out. What I really love about this spot is that you’re close enough to Amsterdam‘s main attractions but tucked away from the tourist chaos of Damrak.
The Space
This isn’t your typical hotel room setup — it’s more like staying in someone’s beautifully restored canal house. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect, and there’s this wonderful play of light coming off the water that dances across the walls throughout the day. The apartment has character in spades, from the original wooden beams to windows that open right onto the canal. You know what really struck me? How quiet it gets at night, despite being so central.
Practical Details
The kitchen is compact but surprisingly well-equipped — perfect for morning coffee or a simple breakfast with groceries from the nearby Noordermarkt. Parking isn’t included (and honestly, you don’t want a car here anyway), but the whole city becomes walkable from this address. The hosts are responsive without being intrusive, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to live like a local for a few days.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something magical about waking up to canal views and the gentle sound of boats passing by — it’s the Amsterdam experience you came for, without any of the tourist trap nonsense. The location gives you instant access to the city’s best neighborhoods, and after a day of exploring, coming back to your own little piece of canal house history feels pretty special. It’s the kind of place that makes you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Amsterdam around Oud-West for artisan bakeries, vintage shops, and leafy squares.

What Our Guests Say
Great location and all the amenities you need The apartment is in a great location close enough to the station and main sites but on a lovely quiet canal. You feel part of the city rather than being in a non descript hotel
What could be improved: The weather but it didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves
Really wonderful ambiance and location. Location and decor
What could be improved: Lack of sink and microwave
More than wecould’ve imagined, perfect we loved Amsterdam!! The location was unreal.
We loooved staying on the canal 😍
Super central to all markets, cafes, red light district & more!
What could be improved: The neighbours had a private party DJ set that literally went til 2am in the morning, so no sleep for us haha. Notice would’ve been nice haha
Other than that - nothing.
If anything, hard not having access to kitchen, or washing machine just because we have been travelling, but we made do.
Lovely stay on the canals of Amsterdam, comfortable and spacious room. Highly recommend Location, size was very big, extremely comfortable bed.
What could be improved: No cooking facilities but we were aware of this when booking so no issues
Super enjoyable stay Communications with Fritz the manager, he was supe helpful and efficient . Great Location, Had everything that we needed and bed was comfortable
Amazing canal location. Amazing location with a great canal view walking distance from so many attractions, shopping, dining, etc. Extremely accommodating staff. Fritz was awesome and recommended a wonderful restaurant nearby. Large apartment with plenty of room for two. Loved that the unit was decorated with owner Malibu’s artwork.
What could be improved: Know that it’s possible to bring in food to eat and there’s a fridge, utensils, etc. but there’s no stove or microwave. No sink near the kitchen area so must use the bathroom to wash dishes, fruits, etc. Minor inconvenience. Beautiful picture windows with canal view are a bit challenging to slide and use metal pins to keep open.
Recommend. Great location. Thoughtful landlord who helped
Overall, a great location and a quiet place to stay in the Jordaan. Location is excellent. Walkable from Amsterdam Centraal. Beautiful neighborhood.
What could be improved: Minimal cooking options. No microwave.
There is a water boiler. No running water at cabinet with water boiler. Need to fill water boiler in bathroom. All this won’t matter if you’re there for a day or two.
Love it, would definitely stay here again Good location, walked everywhere! Bed was comfortable and all clean. Shower was good. Fritz and the lady upstairs were very friendly
What could be improved: TV dated but then you don’t come on holiday to watch television
As per above words Good location, close to main station, and river boat terminal. Able to walk to most major sites, and restaurants. Our host Malou, was very helpful, cheerful and willing to make sure we were comfortable. Unit is large , with a seperate lounge area and full ensuite. Would recommend this unit or very body. Great outlook over the canal and passing boat traffic. Thanks for a most enjoyable stay. Bob and Regina.
What could be improved: Nothing.
