First Impressions
The Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Arena Atlas sits in Amsterdam’s Zuidoost district, and honestly, it took me by surprise. This four-star property feels way more polished than I expected for a business-focused hotel. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe with warm wood accents — not the sterile corporate feeling you sometimes get with chain hotels.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Zuidoost — it’s not the canal-lined Amsterdam you see on postcards, but that’s actually refreshing. You’re right next to the Ziggo Dome and Johan Cruyff Arena, which means excellent public transport connections. The Bijlmer ArenA station is literally a few minutes’ walk, and from there you can reach Central Station in about 15 minutes. I mean, you get the best of both worlds: easy access to the city center without the tourist crowds right outside your door.
The Room Experience
My room was on the eighth floor with views toward the arena — nothing spectacular, but clean lines and thoughtful touches throughout. The bed was genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-speak comfortable), and the work desk actually had proper lighting for once. What I really appreciated was the coffee setup — decent quality, not those tiny packets that taste like cardboard. The bathroom felt spacious with a rainfall shower that had excellent water pressure.
Food & Social Spaces
The hotel’s restaurant surprised me with its quality — I wasn’t expecting much from a business hotel dining room, but the menu leans international with some Dutch influences. Breakfast was solid with fresh options, though it gets busy around 8 AM when conference groups descend. There’s also this nice lounge area where people actually hang out in the evenings, which creates a more social atmosphere than you’d expect.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works here? The staff genuinely seems to care about getting details right. When I mentioned I had an early flight, the front desk proactively arranged my taxi and even packed a breakfast box since I’d miss the morning service. The parking situation is straightforward too — something that can be a nightmare in central Amsterdam. It’s perfect for travelers who want reliable comfort without paying premium prices for a canal-view location they’ll barely see anyway.
Best hotels in Amsterdam blend canal-view balconies, design interiors, and farm-to-table breakfast spreads.

What Our Guests Say
Good Although rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean, still somewhat boring interior if you ask me. Very minimalistic (I booked an upgraded more expensive room but didn’t experience this as something “special”
Parking was with 20 euro kind of affordable for Amsterdam standards
What could be improved: Only 2 small towels available per person , certainly not what I’m used with Marriott standards in other countries.
Nespresso machine in room but only 2 cups of coffee possible
For food it is worth to walk for a while to look for better alternative in the area. Reviews aren’t that good and better possibilities close by
Ridiculous prices for drinks ar the bar at night
Boring area and only interesting if you really need to be there for local business or an event.
Amazing hotel The room was spacious and clean, the staff was very nice and helpful. I came to Amsterdam for a concert and it was lovely to receive an concert gift from the reception!
Very good Very friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable quiet room.
What could be improved: The bathroom had dirty water stains on the floor at the door entry point. The TV remote seemed to have a delayed reaction time when searching for channels.
Superb Location was perfect to attend a concert. Train station nearby. Clean and good facilities.
What could be improved: At check-in, I was given the wrong information about the breakfast start time. However, the next morning the restaurant staff kindly packed us some croissants and provided takeaway coffee, which was much appreciated.
Enjoyable stay. Me my wife and my daughter stayed 2 nights in a hotel. Bed is wide and comfortable. Bathroom and given materials are quite good.Reception and housekeeping department staff are helpful and hospitality. Breakfast is quite enough. I made sightseeing all day in center of Amsterdam and had a rest in a hotel. I recommend the hotel all booking customers. It was an enjoyable stay! Thank you very much…
What could be improved: Nothing I can say..
Very good Great place to stay when visiting Amsterdam
Superb Perfect lication for concerts in amsterdam
met all our requirements. breakfast was very good.
What could be improved: since we stayed for 5 days we would have preferred a variation in breakfast items.
Very good Cleaning, comfortable
What could be improved: The bed sheets were no longer enough to cover all your body. And the pillows could be better.
Superb Immaculate. Great staff. Location was perfect for stadium, transport links.
What could be improved: Breakfast was expensive but as expected for this type of hotel.
