But this apartment tucked away on Stellingweg in Amsterdam Noord turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that make you feel like you’ve discovered something special. The ground floor location means no lugging suitcases up narrow Dutch staircases, which anyone who’s been to Amsterdam will appreciate.
The Noord Experience
Amsterdam Noord isn’t your typical tourist stomping ground, and that’s exactly why I loved staying here. You’re away from the crowds but still connected — the ferry across the IJ takes maybe ten minutes and runs constantly. There’s something refreshing about ending your day in this quieter pocket of the city. The neighborhood has this authentic local vibe with genuine cafés and bike repair shops, not tourist traps selling miniature clogs.
The Space
The room itself feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together. I mean, it’s not huge, but everything has its place and the miniature theme actually works without being kitschy. The kitchen is compact but functional — perfect for making coffee in the morning or storing those Dutch cheeses you’ll inevitably buy. What struck me most was how clean and well-maintained everything felt, which explains that impressive 9.6 rating.
Getting Around
Parking in Amsterdam can be a nightmare, but here it’s actually manageable if you’re driving. Most people cycle everywhere though — you’re in the Netherlands after all. The ferry connection to Centraal Station is honestly one of the best parts of staying in Noord. It’s free, frequent, and gives you these great views of the city skyline that most visitors never see.

This four-star place succeeds because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s comfortable, clean, and genuinely well-located once you understand Amsterdam’s geography. Excellent stay We really liked the accommodation. It was small but very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for our stay in Amsterdam. Bed and sofa bed are very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom exceptionally clean with plenty of towels, toilet rolls and some toiletries. We were very warmly welcomed by the hosts with drinks in the fridge, coffee and a few knick-knacks. Quiet area so we slept well. Right across the road there is a big supermarket which was a bonus. We were also very appreciative of the hosts arranging private transport for us, which was punctual and reliable. Overall, excellent accommodation!
What could be improved: I can't think of anything we didn't like. It was all great. One word of caution for anyone with mobility issues as the steps on the staircase are a little narrow, but there are sturdy handrails on the wall to help you go upstairs and downstairs. Plus, there are not many steps anyway.
Cozy house The place is right next to a grocery store. There were very beautiful walking places there. The owner was very friendly and He helped anytime I had a question. I felt like home there.

What could be improved: steep staircase could be a problem to people with limited mobility, no cooking facility ( this was not a problem for us)

Everything perfect We couldn't be happier having chosen this accommodation for our stay in Amsterdam. The host is incredibly friendly and helps in any way he can. We literally lacked nothing.
The accommodation comes equipped with more than the essentials and the facilities are great. We take away good memories of Ilyas, the best host we have ever had!

Friendly, clean, tidy, well furnished, great value. Would stay again. Really friendly host - apartment had everything we needed - very clean and tidy - about a 20 min Uber to the centre/30 mins on public transport but great value compared to hotels. Would stay again.
Our casa di maksch experience We loved everything! House was super cozy and there is plenty room outside for relaxing. The hosts are very friendly and will help you with anything, there is also a cute pool to cool yourself. Hosts are very generous, they leave you couple cans of beer, fanta, cola, a bottle of wine... They also leave you fresh fruit and some other snacks. Casa di maksch was a perfect place to come back from busy Amsterdam streets to rest. We really wish to come back as soon as possible.

Simply Amazing - Great Choice for an weekend escape The house is small but nice and cozy. The Host is friendly and available for any question or request. They even left us for free: bottled water, coca.cola, bier, wine and fresh fruits. Bed confortable and private parking for free. With also bikes for rental if you need. Place very clean, with a lot of towels and everthing you need to enjoy at 100% your stay like: dishsoap, microwave, boiler, shower gel/shampoo &deo, working Wifi, TV, fridge... everything you need to feel yourself better than at your own home.
They have also their private boat and an pool outside. Since we stayed only 2 nights we didn't had the chance to prove it. The bus station is right next to the structure or, if you want to walk for cca.20 minutes, you may take the ferry to the Central Station(for free).
It is the first time that we found a place so unique, with so many facilities. Thank you dear Host and hope to see you in the future again :)
