The Neighborhood Vibe
Oud-West is where locals actually live, you know? You’re about a 15-minute walk from the chaos of the Red Light District, but here on Nassaukade, it’s quiet enough that you can hear the canal boats putting along in the evening. There’s a great little café called Café de Reiger just around the corner — the kind of place where people read newspapers and nobody’s rushing anywhere. The tram stop is maybe two minutes away, so getting to Museumplein or Central Station is pretty straightforward.
The Space Itself
My room overlooked the canal, and I mean, that’s really what you’re paying for here. The space was smaller than what you’d get at a chain hotel — this is Amsterdam, after all — but everything felt thoughtfully designed. The breakfast area doubles as a sort of communal lounge, and the owners (who actually live upstairs) are the type who remember your coffee preferences after day two. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, you’re in one of Europe’s best food cities, so that’s hardly a problem.
What Makes It Work
The 9.5 rating isn’t an accident — this place just gets the details right. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given in boutique places), the shower had proper water pressure, and there’s decent wifi throughout. Parking is available, though I’d honestly recommend skipping the car entirely in Amsterdam. The breakfast is simple but good — fresh bread, local cheeses, decent coffee — served in a sunny little room that feels like someone’s well-designed kitchen.

This was a perfect end to our first trip abroad with our children. We hope to come back soon! We loved everything about the home! It was so clean and very comfortable for our family of 4. We loved all the food that had been provided for us to eat - it was perfect and so helpful to have at the ready, especially for the kids. Marion was a wonderful host and provided us with great information about the area as well.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like! The stairs were tough with the luggage, but Marion and her son helped us when we arrived. Surprisingly, the stairs were not an issue at all with the kids (2 and 4)!
Great stay in a clean and well appointed apartment. This property had AC which was great since we traveled at summer time. It’s newly renovated and the hostess is amazing. Very good location as well.
What could be improved: It’s on the top floor which may be impossible for families with strollers or elderly. However our hostels helped when ever she could with our luggage.
Exceptional Marion went above and beyond to greet us in person when we arrived, despite getting in extremely late. The apartment was well appointed and would be the ideal layout for two couples, or in our case parents with two young adult children. We appreciated the cereal, fruit, coffee/tea and cold beverages waiting for us on arrival. We just stopped in a local supermarket to pick up some milk for the cereal and bread to go with the spreads provided.
What could be improved: We had assumed or misunderstood there was a washing machine available in the apartment, which was not the case. It was not falsely advertised- in fact, Marion offered to do laundry for us.We didn't take her up on the offer, however, as we were near the very end of our trip.
Superb It was great to have some cereal, crispbread, yoghurt, and fruit at the property for us to use. The kids appreciated having some things there. The flat was very clean and comfortable, and in a great location -- next to a main bus station and tram stop, and also an easy 20-30 minute walk into old town.

We wanted somewhere comfortable and relaxing for us and our daughter to stay during our 3-day stopover in Amsterdam. This place was the perfect choice! The location and neighborhood were great. The accommodation and facilities were great. The host (Marion) was great. Despite the typical Amsterdam steep stairs up to the apartment, it was well worth it if you are looking for a safe, quiet, clean place to stay in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!
What could be improved: Having to leave!!! Everything else was as close to perfect as could possibly be. We cannot fault anything. Even the stairs (which we thought would be a problem) weren't once we worked out how to best get suitcases up. And Marion showed us a great technique for getting them down when we departed.
Wonderful stay in Amsterdam! Great location, perfect for 2 couples. Marion was the best host, great communication and ensured we had everything we could need for a most comfortable stay. The apartment was very clean and modern, beds were very comfortable and quiet despite being in a fairly busy section of Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend and would stay there again! The place was in a perfect location central to many spots. We wanted to see. Marion was a fabulous host who took care of everything we needed, along with many extras, including recommendations, keeping our coffee, milk, refilled daily, and leaving us with drinks treats, and even some staples to eat. Wonderful, hostess wonderful place!
What could be improved: There is nothing that could be done about this, but there are four flights are fairly steep stairs. No elevator. But Marion was more than helpful with our luggage helping take up and down.
Extremely clean and excellent location Extremely tidy apartment with very comfortable large beds and each room has its own bathroom. Perfect alternative to a hotel where you can wake up and have a coffee and light breakfast. Location is perfect with everything nearby with the tram and bus just steps away. We took the 397 bus from the airport which was very easy. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby with 9 streets just a 10 minute walk. Marion was very helpful explaining how to get the tram. Only downside is the 4 flights of stairs to the apartment. Fine if you are fit but my 80-year-old mother with knee problems did struggle a bit but she did manage a 3 night stay in the end.
