First Impressions
The Bos en Lommer Hotel – Erasmus Park area isn’t your typical Amsterdam hotel experience — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. This four-star property spreads across different locations throughout the Erasmus Park neighborhood, which might sound confusing at first, but it actually gives you more of a local residential feel than cramming into the tourist-heavy city center. I mean, you’re staying in Bos en Lommer, which locals just call “BoLo,” and it’s one of those areas that feels authentically Dutch without trying too hard.
The Neighborhood Reality
Here’s what you need to know about this area — it’s real Amsterdam, not the postcard version. Erasmus Park itself is this lovely green space where you’ll see families having picnics and people walking their dogs, and the whole neighborhood has this relaxed, residential vibe that couples seem to absolutely love (the ratings back this up). You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the main attractions, but honestly, sometimes it’s nice to come home to somewhere that doesn’t smell like stroopwafels and tourist sweat. The parking situation here is actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Amsterdam will tell you is practically a miracle.
What Your Stay Looks Like
Since the hotel operates from different locations in the area, your room might be in a converted townhouse or a more modern building — but that’s part of the charm, really. The accommodations feel more like staying in a well-appointed local apartment than a standard hotel room, and the quality is consistently solid across the different properties. You’ll get proper amenities without the stuffiness of some four-star places, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood well enough to point you toward that little Indonesian restaurant around the corner that doesn’t show up in guidebooks.
Getting Around and Practical Stuff
The location gets high marks from guests for good reason — you’re connected to the rest of Amsterdam without being stuck in the chaos of it all. Tram lines run regularly into the center, and if you’re the type who likes to explore on foot, the canal ring is totally walkable from here (though it’s a bit of a trek). What I really appreciate is that you can grab groceries at normal prices, find a decent coffee shop that’s not overrun with tourists, and actually experience what it might feel like to live in Amsterdam rather than just visit it.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.7 location rating tells the real story here — this place works especially well for couples who want to experience Amsterdam without feeling like they’re constantly fighting crowds or paying tourist prices for everything. You get the space to breathe, the chance to see how locals actually live, and still have easy access to all the must-see stuff when you want it. It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you want to stumble out of your hotel directly onto a canal, but for travelers who appreciate a more authentic slice of the city, this setup is pretty much perfect.
Early hotels booking in Amsterdam secures light festival cruises, jazz club nights, and private cheese-tasting sessions.

It has a nice terrace.
The apartment is tiny but well equipped and comfortable. We were for but we managed it well.
What could be improved: The bathroom has no real privacy. The washbasin and the face towels are too small according to my standards. The bedroom has no window.
Satisfying Good location and comfortable place
Exceptional The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay with 2 adults and 2 children. It is a bit out of the city centre but only 3 mins from the tram so it is easy to get around. Would stay here again.
Great apartment and excellent location. Lovely apartment, set in a lovely neighbourhood. Janeth was friendly and helpful. Great links to various other parts of Amsterdam too by metro, tram or bus. Brilliant restaurants within a few minutes walk and a wonderful park nearby too.
