First Impressions
Walking up to Bob W Oosterpark on Middenweg, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel. The building has this sleek, modern edge that somehow doesn’t feel cold — it’s more like someone took a really cool apartment building and turned it into accommodations. I mean, the name alone tells you they’re going for something different, and honestly, they pull it off.
Location & The Oost Advantage
Here’s what locals know about this spot — you’re right in Amsterdam Oost, which is where the city actually lives and breathes beyond all the tourist chaos. Oosterpark is literally across the street (hence the name), and it’s one of those green spaces where you’ll see families having picnics, people jogging, and actual Amsterdam residents just hanging out. The tram connections are solid, but you know what? You might find yourself walking everywhere because this neighborhood has character.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in felt more like a well-designed studio apartment than a hotel space. Everything’s clean lines and thoughtful touches — the kind of place where even the light switches seem intentional. The four-star rating makes perfect sense here; it’s not trying to be flashy, just really, really well done. The bed was comfortable, the shower had proper pressure (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up), and there’s actually enough space to unpack without everything feeling cramped.
Dining & Neighborhood Eats
The hotel’s restaurant does solid work, but honestly, the real advantage is being in a neighborhood where locals eat. You’ve got proper Indonesian food within walking distance, cozy brown cafés that haven’t been discovered by every travel blog yet, and morning coffee spots where baristas actually care about what they’re doing. It’s Amsterdam without the performance, if that makes sense.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to how Amsterdam actually works — not just the postcard version — this place delivers. The 8.7 rating isn’t an accident; it comes from getting the fundamentals right while adding just enough personality to make it memorable. Plus, parking is available, which anyone who’s tried to drive in central Amsterdam will appreciate. You’re close enough to hit the major sights when you want to, but far enough out to experience a city that’s more than just canals and crowds.
To book hotel in Amsterdam for canal-side views, travelers reserve early to pair museum mornings with brown café evenings.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional Beautiful room and bathroom, very well stocked with nice soaps, tea and coffee supplies, loved the yoga mat in the room!
What could be improved: Unfortunately I got locked out of the room a few times when the mobile unlock function didn’t work
Great, dog friendly hotel! Perfect stay! Dog friendly was a huge plus - our dogs loved it. Good location not too far from centre. Nice bars and cafes round about the hotel and easy transport in to centre of Amsterdam. Very clean and nice rooms.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect.
Exceptional Beautiful surroundings, next to the canal. It's situated in a very nice neighbourhood. Very well connected with the center of Amsterdam. You can walk everywhere, no need for taxi or public transport if you like to walk.
Highly recommend! Location was great. Comfort - bed and shower were really good!
What could be improved: It is a bit smaller than it appears in the pictures. I guess walls are too thin so it can be a bit noisy
A brilliant hotel with easy access in a quiet but accessible part of Amsterdam. Easy access to the property, no checkin, able to check in early, rooms were clean, in a nice area, staff were friendly, beds were comfortable and shower was hot and had a lot of pressure. loved the coffee in the room as well.
What could be improved: There should be a fan in the bathroom as it gets a lot of condensation from the shower which is hard to clear out with no fan.
Superb Was clean and the kitchen was nice. The location was very good too.
What could be improved: The WiFi and locks had some issues
Superb I did not have breakfast here But the location was wonderful. I was there for a conference and it was perfect!
What could be improved: wish I could get room service
Stylish boutique hotel in historic building Very nice and stylish renovation of an old historic building. No reception, but excellent communication with host on chat functions. Bathroom with big rainfall shower is great. Comfortable beds. Practical with a social kitchen on ground floor for all guests for making a meal.
Relatively quiet neighborhood, close to local businesses and good restaurants and parks. A bit away from the city centre. Taking the tram works good in ca 30 minutes.
Could have been great to display some text on the history of the building.
What could be improved: We missed a bit more furniture for example a couch in the room ( it was a small table and two ordinary chairs.
Window on 2nd floor was small and little natural light.
Would recommend for an easy stay outside of Amsterdam downtown
Great location and fa ilities Great location, short walk to tram to get into town, close to supermarket, hotel gym access is around the corner and exceptionally good, loved our stay.
What could be improved: Our room didn't have a blind to one of the windows so it was difficult to sleep in past 6.30am with the bright light coming in.
Perfect, 100% recommend Excellent, beautiful room, free coffee, would 100% recommend. Stayed in a studio apartment and it was spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom was stunning and we were very impressed.
What could be improved: Nothing - it was perfect
