Walking up to Boat & Boost Amsterdam on Levantkade, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical city hotel. The building sits right along one of Amsterdam’s quieter waterways in Zeeburg, and honestly, it feels like discovering a secret that most tourists haven’t figured out yet. The whole setup has this modern, almost industrial vibe that somehow works perfectly with the canal setting.

Here’s what I love about staying in this neighborhood — you’re technically still in Amsterdam, but it feels completely different from the chaos around Centraal Station or the Red Light District. Zeeburg is where actual locals live, which means real cafés, proper grocery stores, and none of that tourist markup on everything. The four-star property takes full advantage of this location, giving you easy access to the city center (about 15 minutes by tram) while keeping you somewhere you can actually breathe.

The Room Experience

My room had these floor-to-ceiling windows that basically frame the canal like a living painting. The design is clean and minimalist — think Scandinavian meets Dutch practicality. What really impressed me was the attention to small details: proper blackout curtains (essential for Amsterdam’s endless summer daylight), a coffee machine that actually makes decent coffee, and enough power outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and your laptop.

The restaurant downstairs serves this interesting fusion of Dutch classics with international touches — I had the best stamppot I’ve tried outside of someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. But honestly, what sold me was the terrace overlooking the water. You can sit there with a drink in the evening and watch the boats drift by, and it’s one of those moments where you remember why you travel in the first place. The breakfast spread is solid too, with local cheeses and fresh bread that makes getting up early almost worth it.
