First Impressions
When I first walked into the Bilderberg Garden Hotel, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior — it’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Oud Zuid that you’d probably miss if you weren’t looking for it. But stepping inside, you immediately get why this is a five-star property. The lobby has this understated Dutch elegance that feels genuinely luxurious without being flashy, and the staff actually remembers your name after checking in.
Prime Oud Zuid Location
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re right in the heart of Amsterdam’s most sophisticated neighborhood, but it feels completely residential and peaceful. The Vondelpark is literally a two-minute walk — I mean, you can see it from some of the upper floors. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are close enough that you can easily walk there, but far enough that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds right outside your door. Plus, there’s this fantastic local market on Saturdays that most visitors never find.
The Rooms
My room was on the third floor facing the garden (definitely request a garden view if you can), and it had this lovely mix of classic Dutch design with modern luxury touches. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards, and honestly, the bed was one of those where you actually don’t want to get up in the morning. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was — you’d never guess you’re in the middle of a major city.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves this interesting contemporary Dutch cuisine that I wasn’t sure about at first, but it actually works really well. Breakfast is proper European style with excellent coffee and local cheeses that you won’t find at chain hotels. There’s also a small spa area that’s perfect for unwinding after walking around the city all day — nothing huge, but definitely sufficient and beautifully designed.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it feels like staying in an elegant Amsterdam home rather than a typical luxury hotel. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and the location gives you the best of both worlds — easy access to everything you want to see, but you’re staying where actual Amsterdammers live and work. The parking situation is also sorted, which anyone who’s tried to drive in Amsterdam will tell you is worth its weight in gold. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day.
The luxury concierge service in Amsterdam secures reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants, VIP access to museum collections, and bespoke tulip field experiences in nearby countryside.

What Our Guests Say
Good Bright and clean
What could be improved: Went for breakfast once on our first morning. No gluten free cereal or pastries available. Offered gluten free toast but no idea about cross contamination as went to use main toaster. Ended up with 2 baked bread rolls! Poor choice for cost
as a coeliac hence never went back! Didn’t inspire me to try the restaurant for evening food as any slight cross contamination makes me ill.
Another lovely stay, we enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable overnight here Amazing location, rooms are comfortable and quiet and checkout is 12pm
Good quiet comfortable stay The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ideal for a quiet stay. Excellent breakfast as usual
What could be improved: Dinner selection could be better hence I ate elsewhere
Fabolous Fantastic hotel, staff super gentle and everything is new and clean
What could be improved: Missing slippers, bathrobe and some amenities that I would expect to receive from a luxury hotel
Very happy, staff very helpful, would definitely stay again Welcoming, very clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent
What could be improved: Maybe more staff for reception area and tea and coffee supplies in room, no plain tea bags and not enough milk
Lovely stay during birthday trip in Amsterdam Comfy bed, nice room, quiet location, staff were friendly and went out of their way to make the stay really good (it was my birthday, there was a card and gift in the room, and staff wished me happy birthday in person). Breakfast was good with a range of cold items. Hotel had nice decor, comfortable seating area in the lobby and it was generally quiet and peaceful due to it not being a huge hotel (only having 2 floors of rooms).
What could be improved: Bar and restaurant were both closed in the middle of the day (around 2pm) on Saturday, and so there was no option to get food at that time without ordering takeout from others, e.g., uber eats, or relying on just snacks from the 24/7 Market in the lobby. This didn't ruin the stay, but it would have been better if the bar or restaurant was operational at that time.
Superb Excellent location
Superb A "real neighborhood" location. Ample stores and restaurants nearby. A short walk to the tram gives easy access to many parts of the city.
What could be improved: We were there for a week. It would have been nice to have drawer space to unpack a bit. Also, it was a struggle getting enough coffee pods, sugars and creams for the in-room coffee maker. One day we two in the room were left only one cup!
Friendly staff and good lcoation The foyer was a great place to hang out and do work. Also, they hada good range of goods you could purchase at the store. The staff were very friendly and helpful -
What could be improved: The parking fees are ridicuolous. Euro 45 to park in the street. No fridge in the room wasnt great either
Very good Very quiet and restful. Comfortable beds. Staff were very helpful.
What could be improved: Restaurant was closed and we came back one night but the bar staff heated up a pizza for us but it was a dried up horrid pizza :( Everything else was fine though
