It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic.

This is where the hotel really shines — you’re literally a two-minute walk from Dam Square, which means you’re in the absolute heart of Amsterdam. I mean, you can’t get more central than this without actually sleeping in the Royal Palace. The Anne Frank House is practically around the corner, and you can walk to the Red Light District or the Nine Streets shopping area in about five minutes. What I love is that despite being so central, Gravenstraat itself isn’t one of the crazy tourist-packed streets, so you get the best of both worlds.

The Room Experience

The rooms are compact — and I’m being generous here — but they’re smartly designed with that European efficiency mindset. My room had everything I needed: a comfortable bed, decent Wi-Fi, and a surprisingly good shower considering the age of the building. The windows open onto the street below, and you know what? The morning sounds of Amsterdam waking up actually add to the charm rather than being annoying.
