First Impressions
Bed & Breakfast Jo Amsterdam sits on a quiet residential street in Amsterdam Noord, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. When I first walked up to this four-star place, I wasn’t expecting much from the neighborhood — but you know what? Sometimes the best finds are tucked away where you least expect them.
Location & Getting Around
Look, Amsterdam Noord used to be this forgotten area across the water, but it’s actually become one of the coolest parts of the city. The B&B is about a 15-minute bike ride from Central Station, and Jo provides bikes (which is perfect because driving in Amsterdam is sort of a nightmare anyway). There’s this great little café called Café de Ceuvel just a few minutes away, and the whole area has this authentic Dutch vibe that tourist-heavy spots have lost.
The Room Experience
My room was on the second floor — clean lines, comfortable bed, and surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards. Jo’s clearly put thought into the details: good lighting for reading, proper blackout curtains, and a bathroom that doesn’t require you to be a contortionist. The Wi-Fi actually works well too, which I mean, shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow still is in some places.
Breakfast & Personal Touch
Here’s where this place really shines — Jo makes breakfast feel like you’re staying with a friend who happens to be an excellent cook. Fresh bread, local cheeses, and coffee that’s actually strong enough to wake you up. She’ll chat about what to see in the neighborhood or help you figure out public transport, but never in that overly eager way some hosts do. It strikes the right balance between helpful and letting you do your own thing.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.8 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be fancy or trendy — it’s just really well done. You get proper Dutch hospitality without feeling like you’re in a tourist bubble, and the price point is reasonable for what Amsterdam has become these days. Plus, parking is available if you’re driving, which honestly saves you a headache in this city.

What Our Guests Say
Jo and Karen were friendly and extremely helpful about what to do and see in Amsterdam. Clean, quiet, excellent breakfasts and public transportation was convenient. Jo and Karen went above and beyond by driving us to and from Keukenhof Gardens, and then a very early drive to the airport.
Arrived as guests and left as friends. Jo and Karen were amazing hosts, attentive, professional, personable and friendly - nothing too much trouble. Happy to help give advice on things to do. Arrived as strangers and left as friends. Lovely variety of continental breakfast options and evening meal provided upon request at additional charge, all good quality food. Parking included right outside property in safe and quiet neighbourhood. Location is 5 minute walk from local restaurants and tram stop into the city of Amsterdam. 20 minutes tram ride into city for all tourist attractions to suit all ages. Large, comfortable bed, stable wifi, smart tv and tea\ coffee facilities in room, fresh fruit available. Very clean in entire property. Great bathroom and shower facilities. Great place to stay in every aspect!
What could be improved: Nothing to dislike whatsoever, just an amazing place to stay.
Spotless B&B with friendly, helpful hosts who are very passionate about Amsterdam. Nice breakfast, Jo was happy to find what we liked.
Location was good for us but it is a bit out of central area.
Easy tram ride and we enjoyed seeing more of Amsterdam on the ride in to centre but I can see how others might find it a bit far to travel each day.
What could be improved: Jo was super friendly and pains me to put this here but if I have to put a small dislike in this section then Jo can talk a little too long sometimes. Need to give the travellers a little more space to themselves at times.
Lovely stay, highly recommend! We had an amazing stay here!!! Jo & Karen were fantastic hosts, very warm and friendly. We loved starting our days with their delicious breakfast and a lovely chat. The space itself is very clean, comfy, and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable so we slept great, and there was also a nice terrace we would have enjoyed if it wasn’t a little too cold/rainy during our stay.
What could be improved: I loved everything, but it’s worth noting the location is about a 30 min ride on public transit to get to the center of Amsterdam. Tram stop is close and tram comes often so it was no issue for us. But something to keep in mind.
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would recommend this place to all our friends and family. We absolutely loved our stay with Bed & Breakfast Jo Amsterdam.
It was very cosy and clean, we felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived. We had a beautiful breakfast every morning. Karen and Jo are very kind and warm host!
The location is perfect, easy access to city centre.
Free car park was a great bonus.
What could be improved: We liked everything.
Exceptional Jo & Karen, are delightful hosts. Their traditional Dutch home is very clean & comfortable. Jo carried our luggage up & down the stairs, so that made it very easy. The location is very quiet, so good for sleeping & also very close to get into the canal boat section & other areas of Amsterdam for touring. Thank you, Jo & Karen
Exceptional Very cosy and comfortable place. Clean, great breakfast and nice conversation with the owner. Karen and Jo have many good recomandations for your stay in Amsterdam if you wish. We enjoyed our stay very much...to stay with Karen and Jo in their B&B is like beeing in an Oasis of silence a little outside from the City Center. We can recommend to rent a bike in a shop close by.
