First Impressions
B&B Singel Suites sits right on one of Amsterdam’s most famous canals, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. When I first walked up to the building — a classic Dutch townhouse at number 374 — I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical hotel experience. It’s tucked into the heart of the city center, but somehow feels more intimate than the bigger chain hotels nearby.
The Suite Experience
Here’s what I really appreciated: each room is actually a proper suite with a separate living area and bedroom. The space feels generous for Amsterdam standards, which anyone who’s stayed here knows is saying something. The décor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s historic character — exposed beams, large windows overlooking the canal, but with updated bathrooms and good Wi-Fi. You know what? The kitchenette was actually useful too, not just for show.
Canal-Side Living
Being right on Singel means you’re watching boats drift by while you have your morning coffee. I mean, that’s the Amsterdam experience right there. The canal-facing rooms are obviously the ones to get — though they come with a bit of street noise if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing. What’s great is you’re literally a five-minute walk from Dam Square, but the immediate area around the hotel feels more residential and authentic.
Location Perks
This four-star place puts you within walking distance of basically everything that matters. The Nine Streets shopping area is right around the corner, and there’s this excellent little restaurant called Café de Reiger just a few blocks away that locals actually go to. The nearest tram stop connects you to Museumplein in about ten minutes, which beats fighting Amsterdam traffic any day. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in the city center.
Why Guests Love It
Look, B&B Singel Suites isn’t trying to be the fanciest hotel in Amsterdam, and that’s actually refreshing. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the city, not just checking you in and disappearing. The building has character — creaky floors and narrow stairs that remind you you’re in a 17th-century townhouse — but the amenities work well and the beds are comfortable. For the price point and location, it delivers exactly what you’d want: a real Amsterdam experience without the tourist trap feel.

This is a lovely room in a great location and good value for money when compared against others of this size, quality an We loved the room and the location. It is exactly as shown in the pictures. The host was friendly and check in was easy. We didn’t really dislike anything. Yes, it would be nice if the bathroom was in the room but it’s not as bad as one may think across the hall.
Superb great location, large space
Lovely Canal House Beautiful room in an excellent location for the city center, museums, shopping etc.
What could be improved: The stairs are a bit steep and narrow but that's part of the fabric of the building. It is not a problem just something you just be aware of.

It was a lot of stairs, but we knew that before booking.
