First Impressions
B&B Midtown Amsterdam suites sits right on Sarphatistraat, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring Amsterdam. This three-star place has that classic Dutch townhouse feel — you know, tall windows and a narrow facade that somehow fits perfectly into the city’s rhythm. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Amsterdam City Centre, so stepping outside means you’re already where the action is.
The Suite Experience
What sets this place apart is that every room is actually a suite, which makes a huge difference when you’re staying for more than a couple nights. The spaces feel genuinely livable rather than just somewhere to crash. Each suite comes with a kitchenette — nothing fancy, but it’s got everything you need if you want to grab groceries from Albert Heijn down the street and make your own breakfast. The decor is clean and modern without being sterile, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range spot.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about staying on Sarphatistraat — you’re close enough to walk to the Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark, but you’re not stuck in the touristy chaos around Dam Square. The Waterlooplein flea market is just a few minutes away, and there’s this great little restaurant called Café de Reiger nearby that serves proper Dutch food without the tourist markup. Plus, the tram stops are right there, so getting around the city is actually easy.
Practical Details
The staff here really knows their stuff — they’ll give you actual useful tips about which neighborhoods to explore and where to find the good stroopwafels (hint: not at the tourist shops). There’s no parking on-site, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for central Amsterdam, and they’ll point you toward the nearest garage. The building itself is one of those classic Amsterdam structures, so expect some stairs and no elevator — just something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with heavy luggage.
Why Guests Love It
What makes B&B Midtown Amsterdam suites work is that it strikes this nice balance between being affordable and actually comfortable. You’re not getting five-star amenities, but you are getting a real sense of living in Amsterdam rather than just visiting it. The suite setup means you can spread out, make coffee in the morning, and feel settled instead of cramped. For the price point and location, it’s one of those places that just makes sense — especially if you want to experience the city like a local rather than from inside a hotel bubble.

What Our Guests Say
Clean compact room, good location and a top spec finish. Lovely clean little room with quality appliances. Modern bathroom with waterfall shower, Dyson airblade fan, kettle, fridge, coffee machine with complementary pods and a small outdoor area with a table and a couple of chairs.Bakery, cafe, shop and metro station all less than one minute away.
What could be improved: There is a lack of plugs with only one adaptor with 3 sockets. The bed is too soft, like trying to sleep on a trampoline and the outdoor area is a little dirty so it is best to leave shoes at the door when coming back in the room.
Very good The place was in good condition and they accommodated us with early bag drop off which was much appreciated
What could be improved: . The only negative was OMG the lighting. After the sun set it was like being in a cave. Please change out those horrific bulbs. Reading at night was impossible.
I had a great stay. Everything was very convenient and relaxing The bed was really comfortable and the room itself is spacious, nice furniture. You get your sweets, lots of coffee capsules and good variety of gel and shampoos. No noise inside, people kind and flexible. Thank you
Superb Great location!
Good location but property needs some repairs It was great having the tram stop and train station right out the front door.
What could be improved: As previously mentioned by other reviews there were a number of things that need repair that would have changed my rating of the property.
- The shower did not drain so you would have to either use low water pressure or turn the shower off during your wash to let it drain.
- The bathroom door handle was broken on both ends and kept coming off so we couldn’t close the bathroom door properly.
- The bathroom sink design unfortunately would mean water would run off the bench a lot.
- One of the chairs in front of the bed to watch the TV had a broken leg so it couldn’t be sat on properly.
- One of the powerpoints on the side of the bed looked unsafe as it was not affixed to the wall (it was hanging out of the wall).
Overall okay, good location, cosy! Bed was comfy as hell! Lovely decor, cosy, great location
What could be improved: Broken items in room, advised but none fixed.
Broken chair leg so couldnt use it.
Broken bathroom door handle so couldnt shut the door.
Broken toilet roll holder.
Unlocked back gate to our terrace so no privacy.
Shower swamps with water so have to turn off intermittently so drains.

Great place to stay for couples. Highly recommend The beds, pillows, and linens we're very comfortable. The location was excellent - right next to the metro, plenty of nearby points of interest. We almost exclusively walked. Room was clean. Room layout was excellent.
Heating in the room worked very well.
What could be improved: There was no soap in the dispenser. Told the staff - but it was not refilled throughout our 5 night stay.
The rooms are not very well insulated for sound - we had a couple of noisy neighbours which was a bit annoying at times.
Great room, comfortable, good access to public transport and walks along the canals. The location was far enough south to avoid the more busy tourist areas. Easy access to train and tram. Great cafe next door. The room was spacious and comfortable. Great bathroom and good hot water.
What could be improved: Didn't like the nylon bed sheets that had cigarette burn holes in. Why not clean fresh white cotton linen ???. Lovely new bathroom but not designed for men - No shaving point and strange sink that you can't plug to hold hot water to have a shave ?!!
On finding the building we were shocked at its outside appearance with spray graffiti on the wall and litter around front door. Maybe it's meant to be a trendy look?
Superb A very pleasant stay at B and B Midtown suites. I stayed here with my partner for 3 nights. The room was very comfortable, modern, and the location was fabulous. The check-in instructions were easy to follow and the host very helpful. Overall, a great little apartment; great value for money!
What could be improved: Under the bed was a little bit dirty (with some cigarettes) and there weren't any mugs or plates provided. Apart from that, a lovely stay! Thanks.
A great location with fair price. Good for solo traveler. The location is exceptional! Having a coffee maker, kettle, and refrigerator was great.
The host quickly answered questions I had send by message prior to my trip.
Shower and bathroom, and overall size of the room was good.
Having patio door was nice!
What could be improved: I was not informed that a chair leg and bathroom door handle were broken prior to my arrival. I had to spend time communicating with the host about that and they knew it but didn't tell me.
Bed 'linens' had multiple 'burn' marks on them.
Because of other reviews, I was prepared for the very narrow stairs down to the room.
