First Impressions
B&B Keizers Canal sits right on one of Amsterdam’s most famous canals, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. This three-star bed and breakfast occupies a classic 17th-century canal house at Keizersgracht 669, which means you’re getting that authentic Amsterdam experience without the tourist trap pricing. The building has that slightly crooked charm that comes with centuries-old foundations — you know what I mean if you’ve walked these streets.
The Neighborhood
What I love about staying here is that you’re genuinely in the thick of things without feeling overwhelmed. The Keizersgracht is one of the main canal rings, so you’ve got easy access to everything, but it’s actually quieter than some of the more touristy spots. You can walk to the Anne Frank House in about ten minutes, and the Jordaan district — with all its cozy cafés and vintage shops — is literally around the corner. The tram stops are close enough that getting anywhere in the city is simple.
The Space
Each room feels different because, well, it’s an old canal house and nothing’s perfectly uniform. Some have canal views (and trust me, you want to request one), while others look out onto the quiet courtyard. The rooms aren’t huge — this is Amsterdam, after all — but they’re thoughtfully designed with modern touches that don’t fight with the historic character. I mean, you’re staying in a building that’s older than most countries, so embrace the quirks like slightly slanted floors and charming low doorways.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in a lovely ground-floor space that opens onto the canal, and it’s one of those moments where you remember why you chose this place. Nothing fancy, but fresh and satisfying — typical Dutch offerings plus some international options. The staff actually lives here or nearby, so they know the neighborhood intimately and can point you toward that perfect brown café or the bakery that locals actually use. There’s no restaurant for dinner, but honestly, with Amsterdam’s food scene right outside your door, that’s hardly a problem.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.4 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s that rare combination of authentic location, reasonable pricing, and genuine hospitality. You’re not getting hotel-level amenities, but you are getting something more personal and connected to the city. The canal views, especially in the evening when the lights reflect off the water, remind you why Amsterdam captivates so many people. Plus, staying in an actual canal house rather than some modern chain gives you stories worth telling when you get home.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect location with friendly host. The location was excellent!
Paulo was very friendly and helpful.
Everything was very clean.
Breakfast was very good.
What could be improved: The stairs are a bit strap and spiraling. But Paulo moved our luggage, so that was good.
The bathroom light is on a sensor, so the light went on automatically at night.
Great location and comfortable Great location, delicious breakfast and comfortable bed. The host was pleasant and delightful.
What could be improved: The apartment smelled musty. I had to dump water out of the humidifier 2-3 times a day. This is fyi..in case you have an intolerance or allergy to this sort of thing.
We would definitely stay here again Host was helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh, delicious and bountiful. Perfect location close to city.
What could be improved: Nothing - we could not fault the property
Perfect stay for our 3 nights in Amsterdam! The location was great! Breakfast each morning was very nice.
What could be improved: Wish we had a window to the outside, but this was advertised in advance, so it wasn’t a surprise.
I would go back tomorrow and will always stay there when in Amsterdam fantastic breakfast option and the most kind and welcoming host the absolute best location for business and leisure
What could be improved: nothing just the best

He was great with his suggestions and tips. We will definitely be back. The room was great and the amenities like tea/coffee were great. The wifi worked great and Paolo treats like you are his friend and cooks up a mean breakfast with everything one could want.
What could be improved: Nothing - it was one of the most perfect stays we had

What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect!
A lovely stay in a beautiful canal house. Loved the location in a downstairs room in a canal house. It was clean and tidy and was close to transport and great restaurants and cafes.
Our host Paulo was knowledgeable and helpful when we needed advice on transport options and places to visit.
