First Impressions
Walking up to B&B BLoom along Schellingwouderdijk, you know immediately this isn’t your typical Amsterdam hotel. It’s tucked away in Amsterdam Noord — across the water from the main city center — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The building has this warm, residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying at a four-star place until you step inside and see how thoughtfully everything’s been designed.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Amsterdam Noord that most tourists don’t realize — it’s actually become one of the coolest parts of the city. You’re a quick ferry ride away from Central Station (the ferries are free, by the way), but you get to stay in this quieter, more authentic neighborhood. There’s decent parking here too, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Amsterdam will appreciate. The area feels like where actual Amsterdammers live, with local cafes and bike paths that don’t swarm with tour groups.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious — something you definitely can’t take for granted in Amsterdam. What struck me most was the attention to detail: proper reading lights, blackout curtains that actually work, and a bathroom that feels more like what you’d find in someone’s well-appointed home than a hotel. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and there’s enough storage space that you can actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two.
Breakfast & Hospitality
Breakfast here isn’t just continental basics thrown on a buffet table. They serve proper Dutch cheese, fresh bread, and coffee that’s actually worth drinking — I mean, you can taste the difference. The hosts seem to genuinely care about making sure you’re sorted, offering local tips that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. They suggested this great bike route along the waterfront that I never would have found on my own.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works about B&B BLoom? It gives you that authentic Amsterdam experience without sacrificing comfort. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where you can grab groceries at the local market or sit by the water with a coffee, but you’re still connected to everything the city has to offer. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day, rather than just crashing somewhere convenient. For travelers who want to experience Amsterdam like locals do — but with a proper bed and good coffee in the morning — this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What Our Guests Say
Very nice The place was very nice. The host was very friendly. Nice quiet location with the only negative is only one restaurant that closes at 8 pm close by. Otherwise very relaxing atmosphere
What could be improved: Quiet, well equipped, parking, pet friendly
Exceptional Perfect hide-away. Everything you need. Even the sheep were chill. :)
Nice stay for visiting Amsterdam The apartment is a detached house in the garden of the main house. It is a green and safe area. The center of Amsterdam was easily available by public transport.
Good place with amazing host - The host, Mariette was helpful and willing to inform us about good locations nearby (there's a nice supermarket nearby which you can buy decent microwaved foods).
- The place is located outside of main Amsterdam area, which was good for anyone looking for quite time. Travel time to and from Amsterdam Centraal is around 30 mins with bus, metro and a 500 meters walk.
- The room and facilities inside was good and as advertised.
All in all, if you're looking for a quite staying experience but still not that far to reach main Amsterdam area, this is a good place to consider.
What could be improved: - When I stayed there, the wi-fi is quite slow and unreliable however this is not quite an issue for me because I have personal connection.
Exceptional We had a lovely lovely time. Mariette is a wonderful host and was extremely helpful and friendly. The facilities were great, the location was perfect, far enough to feel disconnected from the city but close enough to get there quickly and easily via public transportation.
Lovely holiday home, stylish and comfortable with friendly and helpful host Spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. Away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam but easy to reach by public transport.
Loved being next to the sheep and having the ducks say hello and the heron visit.
Recommended for small families to stay near central Amsterdam. Lovely host. Great location near the city. Comfy beds. Highly recommended :)
Amazing stay. Location is really nice.
Mariette is lovely and she advices us well.
The house is so cute, we found everything we wanted.
Beautiful private and peaceful! Absolutely immaculate property on gorgeous and peaceful surrounding. Easily located near public transport with easy access into the centre or any part of Amsterdam. Exceptional host who goes above and beyond to help and assist during your stay, she also provided us with maps and recommendations of sites to see around the area. The guest house itself is perfect and has all the facilities you need for a short or long stay. Would definitely stay again!
What could be improved: Nothing! Everything was perfect
Overall, stay is amazing but the commute back to the stay is around 30 minutes that needs to travel by tram/metro an The facilities was what we needed, with proper cutleries that we could use for morning breakfast, and there’s a supermarket Landmarkt was just 2 minutes away, with fresh bakeries and ready meal made. The restaurant in the Landmarkt serves delicious sandwiches. Also, our host Marriette was so friendly to talk to and provides nespresso coffee for us during our stay. We had a wonderful stay, Thank you so much!
What could be improved: The location is further away from city centre, not great for people who want to tour the city, but I personally don’t mind because it’s not my first time to visit Amsterdam. I recommend for people who want to enjoy quiet stay with a breath of fresh air and away from hustle bustle of the city.
