The lobby isn’t huge, but it feels warm and welcoming — sort of like stepping into a well-kept townhouse rather than a typical chain hotel. I mean, you’re literally on one of Amsterdam’s main historic streets, so the building itself has character that modern hotels just can’t replicate.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal — you’re actually in the thick of things without being stuck in tourist trap central. Central Station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which honestly makes everything so much easier when you’re hauling luggage. The Anne Frank House is practically around the corner, and you can walk to the Jordaan district in about ten minutes. What’s really handy is that there’s a decent Albert Heijn supermarket nearby if you need snacks or basics.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact — and I mean Amsterdam-compact, so don’t expect sprawling space. But everything felt thoughtfully designed, like they actually considered how real people use hotel rooms. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom was surprisingly modern given the historic building. You know what impressed me? The soundproofing was better than I expected for a three-star place in such a busy area.

Parking is tricky here (welcome to Amsterdam!), but there’s a public garage within walking distance if you’re driving. The staff actually gave me helpful directions instead of just shrugging. Breakfast isn’t included in most rates, but there’s a cozy café downstairs that serves decent coffee and pastries — though honestly, with all the great breakfast spots in the neighborhood, you might want to explore a bit.

What could be improved: No where to put suitcases - no folding rack.
We booked 2 nights and emailed them to advise we hoped we don’t have to move rooms - but we had to move. They gave us a larger room the first night.
