First Impressions
The Amsterdam Roof Terrace B&B sits tucked away on a quiet residential street in Zuideramstel, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you didn’t know what to look for. It’s one of those typical Amsterdam row houses that looks modest from the outside but surprises you once you step inside. The neighborhood feels authentically local — you know, the kind of area where you’ll see Dutch families on cargo bikes rather than tour groups.
The Neighborhood Experience
What I really appreciate about staying in Zuideramstel is how it gives you a real taste of Amsterdam life without the constant tourist buzz. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the city center, which honestly works perfectly when you want to escape the crowds each evening. There’s a decent Albert Heijn supermarket just around the corner, and I found a couple of local cafés where the baristas actually remember your order after a day or two.
The Room and That Terrace
The room itself is clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything you need for a solid night’s sleep. What sets this four-star B&B apart, though, is right there in the name: that roof terrace. I mean, it’s not huge, but having your own outdoor space in Amsterdam feels like a genuine luxury. Perfect spot for morning coffee or an evening drink, especially during those long summer days when the sun doesn’t set until after 9 PM.
Practical Details
The hosts are genuinely helpful without being intrusive — they’ll give you solid recommendations but won’t hover around making small talk if that’s not your thing. Breakfast is simple but well-executed: fresh bread, good coffee, local cheeses. There’s no on-site parking, but they’ll point you toward the nearest spots where you won’t get ticketed (trust me, Amsterdam parking rules are no joke).
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy place you’ll ever stay, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you consider the combination of fair pricing, genuine hospitality, and that rare outdoor space. It’s particularly great if you’re planning to explore beyond the typical tourist circuit — the tram connections make it easy to reach places like Vondelpark or the Museum Quarter without dealing with the chaos of central Amsterdam accommodations.
Hotels in Amsterdam line historic canals, museum quarters, and buzzing neighborhoods filled with cozy cafés.

Exceptional Lovely place to relax and the host was welcoming.
Superb Comfy stay in a quiet, convenient neighborhood in Amsterdam-Zuid. Cor was a wonderful host who took care of everything I needed during the stay.
Very comfortable and private. Terrace, location, very comfortable bed. Host couldn’t have done any more for us.
What could be improved: Nothing.
A fantastic place to stay- easy transport, friendly host, comfy room, great food, happy days! Great location, only a hundred metres or so from a tram stop which led to the city centre one way and a railway station connected directly to the airport the other way. Very friendly and helpful host who had stocked the fridge with more delicious food than we could eat and it was refilled every day! Lovely comfy bed, nice bathroom and a private terrace. I would highly recommend it to everyone.
What could be improved: There is nothing negative to say about our stay at this B&B, it was fabulous.

Wanting to come back Really nice place, loved the terrace. The fridge was full with food, juices, water and jams. The owner was friendly, a pleasure to talk to. We also appreciated that the bed was comfortable, we slept very well.
What could be improved: I can't complain about anything.
Lovely & quiet place to stay in Amsterdam The refrigerator was full of delicious food, waters, meats, cheeses, eggs, creamers, juices. The private roof terrace had beautiful flowers and was colorfully lit up @ night. Cor our host was very nice and helpful directing us to make for a wonderful experience. Location to the tram made it easy to go into the central part of Amsterdam and the train station.
What could be improved: Steep stairs made it difficult to bring our luggage up & down but worth the effort to stay in this nice accommodation.
Perfect place for an Amsterdam holiday The room was completely silent, and it was very nice. Also great breakfast
What could be improved: Didn't have an elevator
