Walking into the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business chain property. The lobby has this refined, understated elegance that feels distinctly European — marble floors, warm lighting, and staff who actually seem to know what they’re doing. It’s positioned right on Stadhouderskade, which honestly took me a moment to pronounce correctly, but the location is absolutely perfect for exploring Amsterdam.

Location & Neighborhood

This five-star hotel sits in the Oud-West district, and I mean this in the best way — you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in tourist crowds. The Leidseplein area is literally a five-minute walk, where you’ll find those famous brown cafés and late-night energy. What I really appreciated was how easy it became to hop on a tram or just walk to the museum quarter — the Van Gogh Museum is practically around the corner.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the canal, which honestly made waking up feel like a small luxury each morning. Everything felt thoughtfully designed — from the marble bathroom to the comfortable work desk that actually had proper lighting. The bed was that perfect balance of firm and soft, and you know what surprised me? The soundproofing was excellent despite being on a busy street.
