First Impressions
The Amadi Panorama Hotel sits right on the edge of IJburg — one of Amsterdam’s newest neighborhoods that honestly feels more like a waterfront suburb than the canal-ringed city center most tourists expect. Walking up to this four-star property, you’ll notice it’s got that clean, contemporary Dutch design thing going on, all glass and angular lines that somehow manage to look welcoming rather than cold.
The Neighborhood Vibe
IJburg is actually built on artificial islands (yeah, the Dutch really went all-in on their land reclamation thing), so you’re literally surrounded by water here. It’s about a 20-minute tram ride to Central Station, which means you get to experience Amsterdam like a local — commuting past modern housing blocks and waterways instead of just hopping between tourist spots. The area feels residential and peaceful, especially compared to the chaos of the Jordaan or Red Light District.
The Room Experience
My room had floor-to-ceiling windows that actually delivered on that “panorama” promise — you can see across the IJmeer lake toward the mainland, and honestly, watching the light change over the water throughout the day was pretty mesmerizing. The rooms are spacious by Amsterdam standards (which, let’s be real, isn’t saying much), with modern furnishings that feel comfortable rather than showroom-perfect. The beds are properly firm, and there’s decent soundproofing, which matters since you’re near a main road.
Food and Amenities
The hotel restaurant focuses on contemporary European cuisine — I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but the breakfast spread is solid and they do a decent dinner if you don’t feel like venturing out. There’s also a fitness center and what they call a wellness area, though don’t expect a full-blown spa experience. The staff speaks excellent English (as pretty much everyone in Amsterdam does) and actually seems to know the area well enough to give useful recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about staying in IJburg — you’re getting a completely different Amsterdam experience than the typical tourist. You’ll wake up to water views instead of canal houses, and you’ll discover that modern Amsterdam has its own charm. The parking situation is actually manageable here (a minor miracle in this city), and the tram connections are reliable. It’s perfect if you want to explore the city during the day but retreat somewhere quieter in the evenings, away from the bachelor party crowds and tourist mayhem.
Hotels near me in Amsterdam deliver easy walks to Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, and charming bridge-lined waterways.

What Our Guests Say
Normal place to sleep Normal place to sleep. Easy to go in center.
What could be improved: It's cold in the room.
Lovely, comfortable stay once you find your way in. Definitely worth recommending. Spacious and comfortable room with new furniture, great beds, and a beautiful view. Nice extras like bottled water, a fridge, and a safe. Conveniently reachable by tram, with shops and restaurants nearby. Everything was great, highly recommended.
What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to find the entrance at first. I later saw the instructions in the description, but I expected it to be more obvious.
Superb Loved the complimentary fruit, tea, coffee, and water. Room was very clean and had a great view.
Good value for money Good family room
What could be improved: Transport to main city was tricky unless you called an uber
Comfortable room with a view The hotel provides a very adequate and modern room with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. But especially the view over the water is great and makes the room feel twice as big.
There are a few places to get food nearby, and especially the Tokoy at 2 minutes walking distance offers very tasty, Indonesian food.
Superb Great location eventhough outside of centre, easy to reach when coming by car. The tram stop with direct line to Amsterdam Centraal just outside of the hotel (15 min ride). Good breakfast with enough options. Complementary drinks in the fridge of the room and there's also coffee and tea avaiable at the reception. The room was not big, but it was clean.
Superb It’s really good. Location is convenient and close to tram station. Very warm and cosy; good facilities, good view. Everything is perfect for my trip. Wanna come back next time
It’s a good experience It’s clean and friendly
What could be improved: Nothing
Lovely location, comfortable hotel Room was very comfortable with a nice view, albeit overlooking some building works when we went. Very convenient location, tram stop just outside and easy to get to central Amsterdam, shop(s) nearby too. Nice park nearby as well which was perfect for a quick morning run.
What could be improved: Breakfast seemed quite expensive so we went elsewhere and can't comment on the quality of it. There was a fire alarm at 4.30am which was unpleasant but I assume was the fault of another guest/someone on a different floor and not much the hotel could do about it.
Comfortable, convenient and good value. On the tramlines into city
Staff very helpful
Nice coffee machine in lobby
Great view over harbour
What could be improved: Entrance a bit awkward but you get used to it
